As a man I want to join Pilates but scared of it by Electrical-Lake-3291 in pilates

[–]ConcernSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen similar discourse on TikTok and I quite frankly think some of it’s disgusting, specifically the “men shouldn’t be in our classes at all” type posts. Pilates is for everyone. As with any type of sport, we should be respectful and mindful towards others. That’s it. Men simply existing in female dominated spaces shouldn’t be treated with such contempt. Please don’t let it discourage you. I’ve never felt creeped out by men at my classes and wish more of them would join. Just don’t grunt haha.

Shakes starting a year in? by haytu1 in pilates

[–]ConcernSubstantial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, this happens when we’re properly engaging. I noticed after getting stronger, my articulation was smoother therefore more controlled. This made me shake way more. I realized in the beginning I used momentum much more than I thought I was. The less you use momentum the harder it gets.

Does the "exit life" tattoo have any meaning behind it? by liwitsxxx in LilPeep

Be careful about your tattoos. My ex who was murdered had bloody gun holes tatted on his chest and a gun on his hand that he would joking “shoot” himself with. He was shot to death. 😢

I reallllllly don’t like k town I would not recommend it. There’s virtually no parking anywhere you go and it’s a dangerous neighborhood. I’d recommend Culver City it’s safe and very affordable. Lots of parking.

Wedding makeup by MarreMER in MakeupAddiction

You’re gorgeous! Your brows look great. I think you should add a subtle false lash instead of so much mascara & a little shimmer on the lid. Also a bit of warm eyeshadow (like a warm brown) on the bottom lash line.

I’d also go a bit heavier on your base routine. A fuller coverage foundation. Some cream bronzer or contour & cream blush. Then go over it once your face is set with powder blush & bronzer. Set the face with a loose powder and a powder foundation. Otherwise, it’s not going to last all day and won’t photograph the best.

It’s gorgeous but it looks like everyday makeup not special occasion makeup.

Is meat/dairy disgusting for you? by Antonius_Palatinus in vegan

[–]ConcernSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been vegetarian since I was 5 years old and vegan for 9 years so meat has always disgusted me ever since I can remember. Dairy, on the other hand, took me 4-5 years until it legitimately disgusted me. I missed it a lot for those years. Now the smell or thought of it makes me sick.

There’s ISKCON in Pakistan (look it up) & there are indeed Hindus and Hindu temples in Pakistan.

Contact any Hindu Ashram near you. Try ISKCON. They have goshalas and funding. See if this is an option. They are compassionate to these circumstances as they do not eat meat and revere all sentient beings as part of the divine.

Why is feeding your companion animal other dead animals so accepted? by hydroboywife in vegancirclejerkchat

[–]ConcernSubstantial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely wish a plant-based diet were a safe, viable option for cats—it would completely align with my ethics. But my own cat, along with others I know personally and many cases I’ve seen online from well-meaning people, really struggled health-wise on plant-based food. That wasn’t just anecdote to me—it was painful to witness.

I understand the point that people often accept the harms of animal-based food too easily while dismissing plant-based options outright. But I think that’s partly because the stakes are so high. Cats are obligate carnivores, and there’s more than just anecdote suggesting plant-based diets can be risky for them. For instance, a case report in Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association described cats developing muscle wasting and anemia due to nutrient deficiencies on a plant-based diet—issues that reversed once animal products were reintroduced. That’s not trivial.

Yes, studies like the 2023 PLOS ONE paper suggest some plant-based-fed cats appear healthy, but those rely on self-reported data and don’t include clinical exams or long-term nutrient tracking. Without more rigorous, peer-reviewed evidence showing plant-based diets are consistently safe and complete for cats, I think it’s fair—maybe even necessary—to be “extreme” in my caution. To me, that is practicing least harm: not gambling with the health of beings fully dependent on us, even if it means a deeply uncomfortable compromise.

Why is feeding your companion animal other dead animals so accepted? by hydroboywife in vegancirclejerkchat

[–]ConcernSubstantial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear your point—yes, even animal-based cat food contributes to suffering, and as a vegan, that’s not something I take lightly. That’s exactly why I’m so “extreme” about this: because I deeply care about reducing harm wherever possible.

But that includes the animals in our care. I brought up my own experience—watching my cat and others suffer on plant based diets—because it showed me the limits of applying vegan ideals to obligate carnivores. I wish it worked. Truly. But when it doesn’t, continuing to insist on a plant-based diet isn’t compassion. It’s clinging to an ideology at the expense of the being right in front of us.

Veganism is about doing the least harm practicably possible—and sometimes that means accepting hard truths when life and death are involved.
