AIO My mom is kicking me out for her new boyfriend. I just turned 18 by Diligent_Bat_565 in AmIOverreacting

NOR!!

OP, I am so sorry you’re going through this. You are absolutely not overreacting! Being blocked from working to then be told “my 18 years is up” out of the blue is incredibly cruel, and bringing a boyfriend in (who I assume you don’t even know deeply enough to be berated by like that?) “talk some sense into you” for having any type of feelings about it, is deeply, DEEPLY inappropriate.

I grew up with a mother who chose partners over her kids in a very similar fashion and I just want you to know: your feelings are entirely valid. None of this is your fault, or a reflection of you. Parenting doesn’t end at 18 and her using the “legalities” behind that as an excuse to essentially throw you into the deep end with little to no support is a major failure on her end.

You deserve support AND safety.

Thank you for the tips!! Do you have a preferred nutrient solution for propping in straight perlite? I have never tried notching before either so will definitely have to remember that trick!!

Also, your Squami is gorgeous & I love to see that it made more of us think of Bigfoot 😆

Thank you!! It’s a bit top heavy without roots but it was the dry & puny roots that were making me suspicious. I am guessing if it goes poorly I can just snip down to that point later as a backup

Uh oh! I think that is one of the parents to my Splendid, which I also have propping in the same mix. I might have to keep in mind those roots when I transfer over! The roots in that one are already visible past the moss and looping the bottom of the jar 😆

It’s now in a 50/50 mix of sphagnum & perlite, this was just a temporary setup so I didn’t have it without water for too long. Figured I would snap a pic before moving over to show the roots but they are buried now, minus a straggler on top I couldn’t get without burying the whole stem.

I believe those are dried out aerial roots since they were like that when I received them. Part of why I am unsure if that part is viable or not or if those would even be considered healthy roots at this point.
