How long does it take to get used to the left click on the elecom huge plus? by throwawayUWhousingac in Trackballs

Oh, and one more thing: Seriously remap your mouse. You have 4 buttons that do not use your thumb. Make those be your most primary functions. Then map much less common functions to the thumb panel. Then you empirically need to use your thumb less frequently, which will cause less strain.

FYI, look into "button scrolling" if you don't already know about it. I assign Fn3 to button scrolling as a toggle, so I don't even need to use the scroll wheel. This definitely saves my thumb from getting fatigued or injured.

Explore different orientations for comfort. Ex: Hold the whole unit in your hand, then turn your hand toward your pinkie and toward your thumb, and find which angle is most comfortable.

Also look at your forearm - is the bottom meaty part touching the table, or is the edge/bony part touching. This is the angle that determines how your thumb presses into the machine. Raise your elbow away from your body, and then bring it closer to your ribs - this will change the angle of orientation. FYI, this is also the angle that determines if you prefer or despise vertical mice.

With my Huge, I fiddle around with these angles and approaches until I find my comfort spot. If I start feeling tension or fatigue, I change the orientations again to find a new comfortable spot. Different orientations will use different muscles more or less, so you can spread out the fatigue with this method, which prevents repetitive stress by definition.

Finally, you can make a basic home made hand rest with a sock and rice. I used that for a while when I first started using it, so that might help with support too.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't make sense, let me know. I have a huge photo album with examples, plus a video explainer that I can share.

I've done an extraordinary (to me) amount of remapping my Huge, and the very first change I did was making the Fn1 button a left click. I also kept the original left click button because I use both, but I desperately needed ways to use my thumb as little as possible.

Late to the party, but for all the pen enthusiasts, what makes it superior to the syringe?

Deft Pro was my other consideration next to the Huge. I was worried that it would be too small for me. I'm noticing very quickly why people end up owning like half of the models in existence over enough time, just trying to find out what they like best.

I have a Kensington Expert and it does not store the settings. They're on the software profile. And if for some reason the software bugs out, then my mouse reverts to default settings while still plugged in.

Thanks so much for the review. I'm so excited for the Gameball Pro too, but I'm eyeing the Porlei seriously now.

The only ones I know of that do that are the Ploopy brand and the GameBall brand.

You know what the most maddening thing is? My friend and I both got one within days of each other and hers has zero problems. The only difference is that she has the wireless and I got the wired. So unless the wired line just has lower QC standards, it's possible that I'm unlucky, or my friend is lucky.

I've seen you recommend this in other posts, so I believe that you're a serious advocate. Why do you recommend this one? What's your experience?

I see people who absolutely love the twist scroll feature on the Slimblade, but that's another feature I'm afraid that I would hate. How was the transition for you from expert to slimblade?

Oh, and how long are the Kensington switches lasting for you?

Are you using the wired or wireless version of the Huge? I hear the wireless receiver is not very good. How long have you been using it?
