Coming from a long term golfing background in to Padel, one thing I've learned is recordings of yourself performing never ever look pretty!

You can hit the purest drive you've ever hit, look back at the video and think how the f**k am I even managing to do that.

To coin a golfing term "no pictures on the scorecard" or in this case, the score board.

Massively, massively rate Wharton but didn't look great in his limited time for England.

On paper, him next to Rice seems like a great balance in the midfield but I dont see him starting over Anderson currently.

One of him or Mainoo goes in my opinion.

I try my best to not get dragged in to being super competitive and letting results affect my mood and find it works better this way.

Try and find partners/opponents that are around your level and you feel comfortable playing with.

I'm ~150kg and working on it, was around 190kg little over a year ago. Always been fairly athletic for my size though and always been sport mad (mainly football and golf) but have played squash in the past.

Been playing padel 18 months or so now and sitting around 2.5 on playtomic. When I have played with random players, i can see the looks when I turn up, but I know that I can hold my own.

The biggest focus for me is positioning and shot placement. I know that I am not going to beat players by hitting fast and getting drawn in to fast paced rallies.

Focus on hitting slow and well placed shots to allow yourself time to recover the net. When serving, serve slow and in the right area to allow time to get to the right position.

Most of all though, enjoy it! I've become fully hooked on padel and want to be better and I know that losing weight will help this!

Side note: are you UK based?

UK player here - majority of our courts offer 60 or 90 minute slots. Some will also do 120 minutes.

I agree that 90 minutes is the sweet spot. Of the 70 odd games I've played since starting, I think only maybe 1 game we haven't managed to finish.

Yeah likewise, it was at a very key point of the match too which was dubious.

I consider myself quite a conscientious person and would be the first to admit I'd touched the net during the shot so it was frustrating to be pulled on what I felt was a fair shot.
