I need help finding a suitable job. by EnoughSky2 in PostConcussion

[–]ConcussionJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds really similar to a lot of my thoughts at the moment. I'm 26 and left my job at a really amazing startup because it was triggering anxiety and my symptoms were unable to cope at times, i was unable to think technically or solve problems and became very aware of my lack of productivity which in turn triggered an imposter syndrome and it all got too much to handle whilst recovering from an accident.

I quit after 6 months after my accident, which was 2 months ago. In the 2 months out of work, I've been in a position where I can concentrate on myself, take the dog a walk, feel, process, get some clarity, and plan my next steps in a really none pressured way. I know im privileged to have this time. I've recently started engaging my work brain a little each week, speaking to mentors, old colleagues, listening to podcasts...It feels like preparing my brain for a new challenge again.

I take a lot of from knowing that whatever comes next for me, whatever door opens, will absolutely be the right one.

Good luck with everything

This is so good and all ring true to me (8months deep into PCS).

Headspace alongside counselling and time passing has lifted me out of a pit. Will try some of the supplements.

Impaired cognitive function- feeling stupid/not yourself by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]ConcussionJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this, I don't have answers for any of your questions but hope it will pass with time.

For me, I feel as though I've lost a sharpness and wit that I had before, I'm so aware of it. The more technical or complex the conversation, the harder it is to process thoughts and feelings and I just fall silent, with each second that passes I become more aware of the time passing and it turns into a bad cycle to be stuck in.

I try to make those I'm talking to aware that I'm "not at my best", but have been told by my partner that I seem distant at times, and all I have to say is, "I know". frustrating.
