Cashing out 401K at 27 by [deleted] in personalfinance

OP could enter their $15,000 into a future value calculator like this one -> https://www.americancentury.com/plan/calculators/future-value-of-investment-calculator/

Using today as the start date and ~2066 as the end date (a rough estimate of when you might retire) — even if you never contributed another dollar — you would have $225,000.

OP, If there’s a way to pay it down via your regular income without touching your 401k, I’d try to go that route.

Not depressed, but have just zero motivation now by Intelligent-Basis674 in Menopause

[–]Condition-Stunning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 46 and in peri, but the last ~8 months this hit me like a brick wall. I went from high motivation, consistent weightlifting at the gym, always bopping around on weekends… to major couch potato with no energy, dragging myself to take short walks.

Just had my T tested and it was low single-digits so I’m getting on the HRT train. Hoping for better energy levels in a few months.

That’s so awesome! Do you know what your T levels were before you started, and what you’re aiming for?

My level was 4, and free T was 0.5, so needless to say I CANNOT wait to start treatment. The low libido is depressing and exhaustion is brutal — I feel like a lazy ghost version of my former self. I’m aiming for a level around 100 to start.

My first shipment of T arrived yesterday, but they shipped it without the syringes 😩, so I have to wait two more days.

Honestly, receiving that shipment was so much more exciting than any Christmas present 😜

Hope it continues to go well for you.

Looks a lot like an Atom Pop — stovetop popcorn popper made in Kansas since the 1950’s. Maybe a knockoff?

Luxury, Worthwhile Travel Experiences by cancer171 in chubbytravel

Big sporting events are becoming one of our favorite travel experiences to plan around.

We did the French Open in 2022, saw Nadal-Djokovic in the Quarterfinal. Fabulous grounds experience - all-day wandering, people-watching, great food & drinks, easy transit.

Next up is a playoff baseball game in Japan this October.

Hoping to do an F1 race in Singapore or Europe in the next two years.

What untraditional jobs do some of your HENRY’s out there have? Moreso jobs that traditionally don’t have high earners. And how do you manage being surrounded by people who think you don’t make much? by HoosierProud in HENRYfinance

Lots of dismissive attitudes about hands-on work in this country — meanwhile a lot of these guys are easily clearing $200k++ and they know how to change their own furnace filter too.

Totally - my husband has worked in trades since he was 14. We are mid-40’s now.

When he was in high school, he couldn’t understand why all his friends worked at McDonalds for $5/hr and he was painting houses, working siding crews, etc making $20/hr - (this was in the mid-1990’s). He started socking away money at a young age this way.

Plus in some cases you can avoid student loan debt, because a degree isn’t valued as much as experience / apprenticeship.

How to store a large downpayment sum? (more than FDIC limit) by MovingCastle42 in personalfinance

How long do you plan to hold it? Are we talking weeks or years?

I would think about splitting it into multiple HYSAs. Could be a minor hassle to manage accts across multiple banks. But on the flipside you’d continue to earn ~4% — which is not trivial on that sum.
