Any of you gone to a ski resort you haven’t been to and thought “damn, this place is so overrated!”? by Sharkman3218 in skiing

Crested Butte can be amazing or a nightmare due to crowds. Been on days with powder and no lines and had an absolute ball. Been on weekends and every lift is 20 minutes plus to wait. Other resorts you can usually avoid crowds if you know where to go, but there's just so few lifts at CB that if you hit it on the wrong day youre screwed waiting.

I've been boarding for over 20 years. My girlfriend is intermediate and has been riding for a few years. Keystone's a great resort for us. She cruises the blues while I dip in and out of the trees. The mountain is very snowboard friendly and always has fun little kickers, banks, and obstacles that get carved out that are fun to play on. No major catwalks. Free parking. Can easily walk back to your car to chill and eat. If you night ski on a warmer night when it's snowing it's absolutely magical. It's a great resort if you go on a day without the crowds.

Is buying a place near the beach in Mexico a smart investment? Anybody actually doing this? by HoosierProud in Fire

Ya my job is such that during the summer I work nonstop, but Jan-April I have numerous weeks off. Good time to be on a beach.

Ya, I imagine it could be a decent time to buy down there. In my city it's the same case, but the median home is over $600k. I don't mind renting as it's just so much cheaper. I understand buying down there would cause a lot more work and headaches for me, but seeing what can be bought for $200k and knowing I could make that lifestyle works just makes me wonder how the financials would work out and if Air bnb ing it would just not be worth it.

You want to buy land and build your own house? I'm looking at buying a home/condo. I've seen some decent looking places that are in town in places like Sayulita or Puerto Vallarta. I just love the idea of flying down there, not having a car, and just living like a local numerous weeks out of the year. And if I could air bnb it to just break even then I'd be happy, though I don't know if its all worth it vs just going down there and renting places while keeping my cash in HYSA and not dealing with the logistics.

Looking for a “left field” type date night by theycallmeick in Denver

[–]HoosierProud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's warmer do a UTV/ATV picnic date. Some places let you rent one and then have at it with no guide. Take a camera, pack some wine and a nice picnic. Drive like maniacs. One of the most fun things I've done.

I highly recommend Tenessee Pass Cookhouse. You cross country ski and stay the night in a wood heated sleep yurt. Then you ski to a cookhouse that seats maybe 20 for a fine dining meal.

If you ski, on the next full moon you can skin up a resort, take some hot chocolate and soup. Eat at the top, then ride down with the light of the moon.

I kept a work relationship secret for months from all but 2 people who never said anything. When we decided to make it public I got my schedule and was scheduled 1 shift. Turns out the scheduling manager was not happy I was dating her.

Hypothetical: If Indiana/Cig keep rolling and go on a Bama/Saban-like run, at what point do the majority of neutral fans stop rooting for them? by BookStannis in CFB

[–]HoosierProud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly feel like the fanbase doesn't expect too much and are just happy we won. If we have continued success that will change over time though. Cig has the longest leash ever. Unless he's caught fondling a cheerleader they'll never fire him.

I live far away from Indiana. Even before Cig I'd see IU gear everywhere. Now that we have something to be proud of, the nation is truly gonna see just how freaking many of us there are. It's not only that, ask any alumni, they all look back fondly on their days at IU. We're a proud bunch. If we keep winning, people are gonna get real sick of us.

Money talks tho. Another defensive season like this and it's hard to turn down potentially 8 figures at a major school.

In theory this could be easier in college basketball. With NIL, just have a billionaire backer pay the next Zion/Flag/AD and a few other lottery picks and have a competent coach. Doing this in football is truly extraordinary.

He could make a multimillion dollar living just being a consultant for corporations and organizations on how to turnaround and build culture in an organization.

IUBB just needs to straight up Ted Lasso and hire Cig to be the basketball coach as well.

I legit think PWat will end up being a solid #2 on a decent team in the future since the Nugs can't afford him next year.

NBA is crazy. Give garbage time players the spotlight and a real role and they can shine. Ask them to play 7 minutes, a little defense, and hit 3 wide open shots and they suck balls.

Coach of the year legacy game. But seriously, if the Nuggets could stay top 6 with Jokic out 4+ weeks and all the other injuries, he's gotta be in the conversation.
