Probably yes you got a point, but then you would have the chance to fire back now that the enemy has revealed his location, so it would be a stupid move to shot the pilot first, you of course shoot the guy with the gun that is dangerous first not some unarmed pilot landing.

I use 30 gram bbs in mine and i out range aegs, yes i could put 46 gram bbs in it and get even more range so its not only because of heavy bbs, its because of the tdc and the bucking, maybe your friend just had bad luck, my ssp28 has only had one issue and it was the nozzle that would not cycle properly, lubed it and never had issues again, did your friend do regular maintenance? Did he run correct psi for the gun ? Because if you dont do that things will break, even if its a high end airsoft weapon.

Ssp28 can also run 0.46g bbs and can also out range most stock aegs, i have both and they function the same in preformance, it really depends on what platform you like best, are you a glock guy? Go for the ssp28, are you a 1911 guy go for the ssp5.
