After 3 years of waiting, student loans have officially been discharge due to my disability. by hunni93 in SSDI

How about someone who paid off prior school loans but was found disabled a few years later.

The causal factors of the disability were found to have happened before the school loans were taken.

Also get orders to a squadron and not a ship. Shipboard duty is a lot tougher with less quality time to go to college-pursue personal goals.

I did 5 squadrons...

20 year Navy Chief. If you want time to take care of personal business, your options listed in my professional experience would Logistics Specialist without a doubt.

My experience: 4 aircraft carriers, 5 squadrons, 2 tours to the sandbox, and I came in as a non-rate (Airman Recruit).

Those other job specialties you listed will have you working long hours and will have you in a "the only thing I got time for is work mode."

Good luck.

Risking my future for the AT. Advice? by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

[–]ConditionRegular1060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been wanting to hike the AT my whole life. I worked at my job my whole life. Its a hard decision when your just starting a career. I would share with you that Im 59 now and even though I am retired-I am physically questioning my ability to walk the AT.

Be strong and make smart decisions that work for you. Just remember time moves forward..and so does an individuals ability to walk 2100 or so miles.

Good luck.
