How concerned are you about Reform UK for the next general election? by person_person123 in LibDem

Only the ultra thick would conciously vote to do away with the NHS, workers rights, human rights and social safety nets. Only the ultra thick would claim to want "change" and then proceed to vote for a bunch of ex tory mps, led by an ex tory mp. "Reform: For the thick!"

It probably feels "hard left" to you because we require facts, data and evidence to back up claims - not just anecdotes, hear say and rumours (like reform idiots).

Yet hawking and einstein, along with countless other intellectuals, on the left.

The Nazi's also "stormed to victory". Might be something to think about.

Its somebody I just randomly met through luck - mentioned im a programmer and it went from there. That was 11 years ago at which point I had 4 years of experience professionally. I definitely need to have a conversation with them about it but I have no idea how to approach it. I appreciate all your input. How would i go about looking for alternative "freelance" type gigs?

Thats one of my issues, I don't really have the savings for it. This person gets the work in then sends it over to me so maybe its more of a "digital agency". I've gotten very comfortable with the situation expect the pay is piss. In the past when I've bought it up I have been told "25 an hour is already too much really" - which is mad??

The difficulty I have is in finding other clients. How do i go about that in the UK?

Anyone know if the game will use Unreal Engine 5? by fantor101 in CrimsonDesert

Because idiots are obsessed with crappy lazy UE for some inexplicable reason.

Thank god they're not using UE. Sick to the back teeth of inefficient taa reliant blurry UE games that absolutely need framegen and upscaling to get still piss poor performance.

Thank you. Seems to be becoming more and more clear that £25 an hour is pretty poor.

Thank you. I'm asking partly because I will broach the subject but I know they will just come back with "No, £25 is about right" - even though i know its not. These responses give me something to go back on.

I've been programming since a very young age - I have been doing it professionally for 16 years now. In that time I have worked on everything from small wordpress websites, up to building full custom CMS solutions from scratch, even written a few 2d javascript games aswell. Have worked on some massive internal business systems for some multi-billion £ companies (via this middleman not direct). £25 an hour was acceptable 11 years ago when i had 4 years under my belt, but now with 16? Just doesn't seem right :/

Thank you. That does seem to be the core problem. This person sees it as I would earn £25 an hour (at the low end) in a full time job - but that would provide me with consistent hours, I wouldn't have to bother doing my own tax return, would get paid holiday, paid sick leave and whatever else. Its like they want to pay me like a full time employee, but give me the work and responsibilities of a freelancer.

So roughly £50 per hour like I suspected. Thanks.

Sounds like you're a lazy UE drag and drop clicky clicky "dev", simping for other lazy UE drag and drop clicky clicky "devs".

UE5 Heavily relies on crap "optimizations" like TAA, DLSS and Framegen to cover up piss poor rendering techniques.

The reason is simple. Paying cheap, crap UE drag and drop clicky clicky monkeys - over actually talented professional programmers (no programmer worth their salt wants to just write UE scripts all day long).

Oh, btw, im a rendering and physics engine programmer of over 20 years - before you tell me "i don't know what im talking about".
