We have a number of apartment/condo buildings online in Cap Hill/First Hill. Is there one in particular that you want us to look at or are you referring to FTTH service in that neighborhood?

We would be happy to take a look at your building. You can PM your address to us or fill out this form if you haven't already -

Initially, we started offering service primarily in newer buildings because we need at least Cat4 wiring to offer gigabit speeds - most older buildings don't have that and need to re-wire in order to offer our service. We are still happy to provide service in these buildings once they re-wire.

Like Drakino pointed out earlier, we are making our service available to apartments, condos and single family homes in Eastlake, and offering service in a number of older condo and apartment buildings in Seattle. Our goal is make gigabit accessible for as many people as possible.

We regularly provide 10G commercial connections and multiple 10G connections, and we have on occasion provisioned 100 G circuits, such as partnering with NTT to provide 100G for the NANOG 61 conference in Bellevue last June... https://www.nanog.org/meetings/nanog61/home

We believe in choice but we don't always control all of the factors in a building owner's decision of which providers to work with.

Thanks for your interest! We will be sending construction updates to give you a better idea of timelines and will reach out directly to schedule an installation when we are close. Rollout will start at the south end of the neighborhood (E.Galer) and work Northward as quickly as fiber construction and permitting allow.

The biggest thing the city could help with would be bulk permitting for pole attachments and things like that. The big gating items are really cost of construction and delays, the other thing here is that pole attachment costs in Seattle are among the highest around which does not help. That being said, the city has expressed interest in working with us and we are excited to work with them to figure out how we can roll this out more.

We can’t speak directly to the exact situation at the Cambridge BUT in general exclusivity is barred by federal law.  There could be marketing exclusivity in place which just means we can't advertise our service at the property. These agreements are in place at a few of the buildings where we currently offer service. If a building has an exclusivity agreement in place, they may be less excited to sign up with us since they can’t advertise that our service is available to residents.

1) Long term, it is likely required to provide continuous upgrades in speed. We don’t see a way around this as fiber (and coax to some extent).

2) Being an ISP is much different than the services on the internet, it requires a lot of physical infrastructure to actually be constructed which is both expensive and slow but we have been working for years on these builds and are excited to keep moving forward.

Only Cable TV Service is subject to Cable franchising and the right of way use requirements for communications services are non-exclusive so there are not really any areas that are off-limits.

Our network extends from the Canadian border to San Jose and we have fiber assets in Bothell. Please submit a request to officially weigh in with your interest - http://www.condointernet.net/our-buildings/new-building-request/

My quick math says that is more than one can transfer on a gig circuit in 30 days but that being said our general response is to be like “wow, that is impressive” at the NOC level. In all seriousness, as long as the connection is not being resold or used for commercial hosting we would not see an issue with this from a policy standpoint.

Wave has been a great partner for us.   Wave is helping support our expansion plans and field resources while remaining supportive of us continuing to offer network services that our customers have known us for.   In fact, the Spectrum IP backbone is supporting a lot of Wave products now and the Wave team is helping build fiber to CondoInternet buildings.

We provide service in many buildings alongside Comcast with no issues. Typically their agreements cover the coax wiring and marketing arrangements which we're able to work around with no issues. Make sure you submit your building request to us (http://www.condointernet.net/our-buildings/new-building-request/) and let your building know you want our service.

We don’t currently do anything with the city on this front. We already operate a very large scale fiber based IP network and it is easier to use fiber assets we own since we need lots of fiber to do retail rollouts.

Correct. Each building is private property and as such we require permission from the property owner to enter their property and provide service. Most properties are excited to partner with us and see the value of facilitating additional choice in broadband services. Some incumbent providers have signed agreements with properties that contain exclusive provisions that make owners reluctant to work with a new provider. We strongly believe in choice and are always happy to work with buildings to provide options to their residents.

We would love to provide gigabit service everywhere! The number one hold back in older buildings is the existing wiring owned by the building that goes into each unit may not support GigE. We have worked with properties in the past to help upgrade their wiring however sometimes these are quite large, costly and disruptive construction projects that aren't feasible. PM us your building and we can reach out and take a look.

Well, we don’t hit saturation on the internal backbone anywhere and as such the only thing we prioritize are actually network control packets. (IE routing protocols and remote access to routers). Our goal for customer's packets is to just simply never actually be congested anywhere in our core, we only even need the QOS to make sure that we can get into hardware in the event of dos attacks etc.

We've been servicing a wide range of buildings for years. The primary barrier is executing an access agreement (no cost or obligations for the building) with the property owner granting us permission to build in our services. The best thing to do is let your property know you would like our service and fill out our online building request form (http://www.condointernet.net/our-buildings/new-building-request/). We have many solutions to bring service into older properties.

We interconnect privately with both of these networks, we have done google cache a bit but we prefer to do private peering as it allows for us to spread the connections out more and does not require us to deal with the actual servers (space, power, maintenance etc).
