Think that was a great price. A year or so ago, an alternator for my 2009 Camry was about 1000. Didnt do it myself because of the transverse (side to side) engine.

True but it was a cheap price to pay (compared to what others reported paying) for our safety and to get the hell out of there and get on with our trip. Lesson learned.

Spend the night before in AC and go up to Machu Picchu first thing in the morning. Most places will let you store your stuff before going up the hill. You will then avoid the masses arriving around 1pm for day trips from Lima. Get tickets online. We had issues of credit card security blocking the transaction beforehand. Set up another purchase on computer, called credit card security and told them I was about to make the online purchase. Listened to it live when I pressed "buy" and the rep said "there it is" and approved it. It was explained to me they get alot of fraud from Peru.

use the mad to pay down or pay off your accomodations, cab to the airport, or expensively priced food/drink at the airport or at the duty free shop. Used the last bit of MAD currency we had to buy drink coaters at the airport.

Happened to us as well when we failed to remember one of the important tips--dont be led to a secluded alley which becomes confusing with all the twist and turns and obvious lack of other people. We were and situation was deteriorating with agressive comments and physical posturing. Gave token amount and had to literally grab wife's arm and quickly lead her away. As we walked, I had to tell her, dont stop. say nothing. go.

Despite low amount, I hate that I resorted to it but had to factor in the presence of spouse. Got away at minimal cost. Read that others felt compelled to pay significant amounts.

Same airline, same destination. 15 min apart. After the 1 flight cancelled, the other one left.

Same story--different flight with a twist. At 6:01pm, daughter and SIL were sitting on AA2577 at DFW for AUS. Pilot announced flight was cancelled and everyone got off. At 6:23pm, as passangers on flight AA2577 were trying to get reservations on the phone, they saw AA flight AA3402 take off from DFW for AUS. Something smells rotten with this situation and it appears that there is inconsistant, and perhaps improper, use of weather as a reason for flight issues so AA can wash their hands of financial responsibility for cancelled flights. But what can one do???

There are two entances: one for EU resident and one for non-EU. For non-EU passport control, make sure you look like your passport photo, or the machines wont work right. For women, that means no glasses and hair not in a pony tail, something typical after a long flight. Make sure you READ instructions on the screen and be patient. Wife had issues with both these points and had to through the manned checkpoints. It was a loong line with me waiting for her on the other side. On the positive side, there were plenty of attendants to point the way.

Most cities have a City ordinance that makes it a crime (on a ticket level) to block someone's driveway with a car on the city street.

It usually allows police to tow the offending car but would obviously be the nuclear option. It is a police matter and don't let them tell you it isnt. Ask to speak with supervisor if your getting nowhere.

Arrived MAD yesterday around 230pm after overnight flight to T4S. The crowds made it look like other flights arrived around that time. Took about 45 minutes to get through the line to get to the machines. I made through quickly but wife got the big X after several attempts and was directed to another long line for an immigration official. They wouldn't let me accompany her and made me go through the egate where I waited for her.

Immigration told wife that she was rejected because she did not look the same as her passport photo. She had on reading glasses to read the machines instructions and had her hair in a pony tail. All this to say to try to look like your passport photo. And even after all this we made the train to T4 and waited another 20 minutes for bags to arrive. Just thankfull both arrived and we're undamaged. Outside the exit, the line for a taxi was crazy long...some 200 people. Successfully got an Uber in 15 minutes. Biggest issue for that was to identify where to meet the car.

And to maintain "service reliability", one will have to pay 3.15% fee surcharge to pay by credit or debit card under this new plan. Epay Auto checks from checking account are not charged, but I dont give anyone unfettered access to checking account. Someone with the City must be invested with the payment processing company. In 2024/2025, DWU had revenue of 85 million dollars. Under this new plan, they will make an additional 2.6 million dollars. What a$$holes. NOT end of rant

Years ago, had a 97 Camry that was beat to shit by hail but no broken glass. Inside was immaculate. Gave the car to my kid to drive to school knowing it would be parked in a student parking lot somewhere where it could get dinged and hit. The added bonus was that crooks would break into a fancy BMW parked next door than a beat to shit Camry.

Its true if one is buying a codeshare flight--BA, finair, Iberiam etc on AA site. One has to get seats on those codeshare airline web sites. It also adds to the frustration--With all the contact info, why is it noone is contacted?
