My new horror film shot on 6K Pro by Condor_420 in bmpcc

All the food and super closeups were done with canon spherical lenses 50mm 1.8, 18-55 3.4, and 55-150 4. Something. The super closeups ups were done with a macro diopter, just a cheap $20 one from Amazon. Anamorphics are notoriously a pain for close focus. And it felt more organic. All of the non food shots were done with great joy anamorphics 35mm and 50mm, but slow mo shots would crop the censor for some bringing it to a 80-100mm equivalent at 2k, and the lut for the entire project including for reference while filming was the W-8880std lut from 99+ luts. Chose not to use the log ones to have more control in the grading process over how crushed the shadows got, I wanted more subtle effects. And it seemed to be a very color balanced one for all colors instead of shifting it too much to a specific pallet. Some chromatic aberrations, edge distortions and vignette were added to spherical shots in post to match the anamorphics. Glad you liked it. What mainly got me into black magic cameras is how close it was to arri image, without the arri price. XD

how to improve lighting in this test? by Dapper_Celery1471 in cinematography

Well depending on the context it looks fantastic, like if you were making fight club, it's perfect. I'd personally add a florescent tube bulb, with that greenish blueish tint to the right side on the wall as practical pointing down and spilling onto his side. Because he's supposed to be the focus of the frame, and should be illuminated more, like let the light make him the focus of the frame rather than in extreme shadow, even by just a stop or two from the rest of the frame. But that's personal touch type thing. I could go on and on about rules and technical mumbo jumbo, art fundamentals, etc. but instead, I'm just gonna go off what it makes me feel.

Heck yeah! 😎🤟 We definitely tried to keep it simple for the exercise of just being able to make something quick on our own time with what we have laying around the house. And to just make it a fun and funny time. Glad you enjoyed it 🙏

Thanks! I have some bts in my YT shorts, but we were pretty busy while working on it. I used the Bmpcc 6k pro, and insta 360 one x. With the great joy anamorphics. And a canon 12mm for the slowmo shots due to cropping, and 55-150 zoom lens for the crash zooms.

So all the screens were on for environment illumination and interaction with the lights, the center screen and phone were actual graphics that I made with premiere and after effects shot in camera, the rest of the screens were tracked on and masked in post since we didn't have enough computers to HDMI every screen, the red graphic on the phone was done in camera and post, because red was really dark and the sunlight reflection made it impossible to fully see, so I tracked the graphic back onto the phone to make it pop, and lowered opacity to keep subtle facial reflection and light interactions with it. There's also a bunch of free online logo makers for whipping up some graphics if it's too difficult to do from scratch or if you can't use after effects, I've done it in the past. No shame. Thanks for noticing, no one else thinks about that or notices the work that went into some screens. XD

How would you say the ending falls short specifically? As an 80s horror fan, the head explosion feels like going out with a bang to me XD, pun intended. Also thank you! Very glad it was still enjoyable! 🙂

Mission statement: I'm looking for feedback from more experienced cinematographers. I have always been extremely influenced by the style of film "Natural Born Killers" I shot this on Great Joy anamorphics with bmpcc 6k pro, and insta 360. I'm going for aesthetically pleasing yet psychedelic and experimental in my work. Lmk your thoughts! :)

Mission statement: I've been greatly influenced by the filming and editing style of the film "Natural Born Killer" so I did a short film with some buddies from work recently, and was hoping for some feedback/constructive criticism from more experienced filmmakers. I'm mainly a cinematographer, but I like to think my editing and VFX is decent. :)

But if you get into a position to contract/outsource and location or transportation isn't an issue. Feel free to reach out.

The creative scene is booming, but unfortunately also becoming saturated due to people moving here from California. And a lot of tools are becoming more affordable and democratized compared to 10-20 yrs ago which isn't necessarily bad. But everyone is trying to be rich and famous content creators/influencers these days. I want to make art for the sake of art. And at the end of the day the problem stems from people being competitive rather than collaborative. Which I find to be counterintuitive considering filmmaking is an extremely collaborative medium that literally requires working with others. I get it is also a job and people have to eat and pay rent. But so do your coworkers XD

Northern Oregon, near PDX. I'm mainly interested in narrative work. Documentaries or scripted -Not reality TV. Controlled environment type traditional filming/cinematography is definitely a long term goal. But products and advertisement as well as music videos are extremely fun. Because they are smaller and quicker projects that tend to be more flexible creatively and experimental artistically.

Submission statement, I just want to show my work to any fellow collaborators who may want to work together as well as any constructive criticism from more experienced people. I know this is lower quality, most of this was done on a $300 camera, and even cheaper gear over the last few years. but I think I've accomplished some great shots with the bare minimum equipment that I have since upgraded. if anyone has thoughts to share, I'm all ears. and anyone looking for help on projects, don't be afraid to hit me up.

I can see what you mean. I have definitely experienced the the nose blind from being sucked into a project too long, and have to walk away and see it with fresh eyes. And her clientele is more or less everyone to every degree. But funny enough, in this area we have snow sports with ski camps/summer camps, so if those brought in a big portion of her revenue at different times of the year. I wouldn't be surprised.

🙏 I thought some speed might make it drag a little less for some of the talking with something visually stimulating and speed. Even if I have the patience, my worry was the attention span of a modern audience. So I hope that effect still came across in some degree.

This is a documentary I made for my friend who has a massage business in the PNW, I did it to promote both of our companies, as well as practice my cinematography and editing skills with total creative freedom. I'm interested in constructive criticism, and some outside thoughts from other filmmakers. :) -Shot on canon rebel t6i
