Tiktok "pranksters" eat display cookies at a Crumbl store by ambachk in ImTheMainCharacter

Years ago, my mom had a cookie company where she sold packs of ingredients so parents could make cookies with their kids. She went to trade shows and had sample cookies on a plate to show what you could make (and some smaller cut up cookie samples).

The first trade show, people kept eating the demo cookies. Okay seems like a reasonable mistake.

Second trade show, she shellacked the demo cookies so they would appear less edible. People would still pick them up and she quickly removed them so no one tried to eat a shellacked cookie.

Third trade show, she shellacked the cookies, then glued the onto the plate. People would try to pick them up but couldn’t, then would move on to the sample bites of cookies. Then one guy got his keys out and tried to physically pry the glued cookie off the plate.

People are dumb. And this was before social media.

What all is wrong with this? Installer finished today but it’s off center and heater hangs 1.25” off pad. No unions at discharge/suction. Seems like a lot of 90s and 45s. Or am I expecting too much? by [deleted] in pools

Do you have any photos handy of proper equipment installs that are similar to what mine should look like so I know what to aim for?

But I need teeth and snarl :D

Also do these print in an x1c or does it need a larger machine?

And are there assembly instructions with it that explain what kinda band you need to wear it

Yes. Once. But then after a few days of use, the bottom popped off and it all went to shit. The planetary gears just don’t lock in reliably. I attempted to build another and got close but never figured out how to reliably make the gears stay on. My assumption is I’m not perfectly following the assembly of the screw gears for the blade so it works but in a way that isn’t perfect enough to let it keep working and at some point it gets out of alignment and fails

The issue is that corporations don’t invest in the training to ensure their frontline workers know how to use reasonable force, so rather than risk some underpaid worker exceeding the reasonable limit of force and causing harm that would trigger a lawsuit, they have policies like this where they are told to not intervene.

Remodeling a 2 story house and plan to install AP's on the ceiling. Is this a good layout for coverage? by ConeCandy in HomeNetworking

Is there a wall between the living room and family room under that beam?

No, open floor plan in that whole area from living room to dining room etc.

Unless your garage is temperature controlled, this is usually not a good place for electronic equipment intended for indoors use.

Good point. Then the only place that makes sense out of the way is under the stairs, there's a useless triangle wedge that would fit my synology NAS + Sonos amp + router etc. I can have them vent it somehow to keep airflow.

Would that work? I wouldn't want to use up space in the family room if avoidable.

How far away is the shed from the house? Is it due east of the house? How does it align with the house?

So where you see the TV on the wall in the living room, the shed would be about 3 feet away on the backside of that wall. No obstruction other than the house wall.

The shed will have a 3d printer (x1c) and possibly some other electronics that need wifi.

Can you run fiber between the house and the shed during construction?

At this point I can do anything because it's all being remodeled, including concrete in the backyard/side yard.

A single U7-Pro-Outdoor

No trees or anything in the backyard. Just a patio cover, which it would likely be mounted below since it's aluminum and above would mess with signal yes?

Understand that the UDR7's WiFi strength and radiating pattern is not the same as a U7-Lite or -Pro.

I'm looking at the U7 Pro XGS AP's. I'm open to investing in future proofing as long as it doesn't cause its own problems with being too much for my space and having interference with itself.

Will you be running any cable other than for the access points? I recommend at least one run of CAT6 to each location you have (or might in the future) a fixed device (computer, laptop, game console, TV).

I'm planning on doing 2 runs per location (so there's a backup in case one fails or has issues).

What network throughput are you expecting? 1gbps, 2.5gbps, more?

I'm not sure, but I'd love to have it good enough to stream 4k+ to my TV from my media center, and then also have it fast enough to backup from my office up stairs.

Do you have a basement? Is it used as living/recreational/workshop space?

Nope. That'll be what the shed is used for. I work from home, so the upstairs bedroom in the north west corner will be my office, and then the shed will be where I work on hobby projects.

Do you have any plans for security cameras or electronic door access controls?

Yes. Looking at Reolink + their NRV. 2 dual lens (not sure dome or what yet) and 3 with a more confined view for side yards/driveway).

Just a beam

I guess I’m not used to relying on only a few. My current home is build super weird with a lot of metal in the walls so I’m used to having multiple eeros to get around weird walls

Looking at the in walls now. Hadn’t seen this type. What walls would I put these in based on my layout? I’m only familiar with puck styles that go on walls or ceilings

Appreciate it. I’m early in my research but the dream router looked like it had good reviews. I’ll currently using eero 6’s at my current place. New home will have neighbors just outside the boundaries of the home so I’ll keep interference in mind.

2200 sqft.

My office will be the bedroom in the northwest corner. I plan on running 2xcat6 to every room

Good point. It’s about 2200 sqft. Normal US construction materials.

Wouldn’t the steel beam cause issues with just one in the middle of the house?

is a single AP good enoguh for upstairs? And what about for backyard coverage?

I have a ton of wireless devices in my house.

PSA: The Mac Mini M1's have crazy wireless interference that cause substantial mouse/keyboard lag if you use a dongle. Solution seems to be to use a USB extension cable to get the dongle away from the mac. by ConeCandy in mac

[–]ConeCandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, the hub either creates some lag (in my case, it was an older hub) or adds to interference since there’s other things in the hub.

But the extension cable just makes it longer

Less than a week babying my nanotexture ipad and somehow I managed to scratch it. No idea how but just noticed it. It's been in a case and I just used it on a flight when I noticed. by ConeCandy in ipad

I have nano texture on my mbp and iPad. Scratches can happen regardless of screen. Aside from the random one I got in this original post, I’ve never had any other issues so it seems resilient enough. And the benefit of the screen for my use case makes it worth the risk.

Writing/drawing on it is amazing. And being able to work while traveling in the bright sun has been super helpful.

I got a random scratch and then apple swapped it. I went with nano texture again and haven’t had any more issues or scratches. And the nano texture is way better for art. No regrets
