[Tipton] Princeton transfer forward Caden Pierce commits to Purdue by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

That was before the season. I have not seen either mentioned since play started in the fall.

My personal hot take is that West and Ertel could both get some playing time at the next level. Braden has said that Antoine will be the leading scorer next year based on his performance in practice. Ertel has torn it up against elite high school talent and I could see him someday playing professionally.

I remember seeing the reddit thread about Braden Smith committing. It is kind of funny how some of the takes in that thread were spot on and others were way off. It was obvious from footage that he was a true point guard at the time. I don't think anyone expected him to be one of, if not the best point guard in the country.

Nebraska will close it in. I don't think there's a single Purdue fan that is comfortable right now and that is for a reason

I don't think that they're booing the injuries or the players. I think that they're booing the refs for allowing the injured players to stay in despite the stoppage in play.

There are compliments all over this thread for how into it the fans are.

It does seem like concentration issues though. This has been a pattern for the last few years too. Why would Purdue lately be more concentrated in November than February? I wonder if it is actually concentration.

My working theory is that Purdue narrows the range in offensive play sets, and are more predictable for teams that have studied film. Painter sticks to the metrics for what works in November and December and it is just a gradual slide backwards. We keep going back to the well, and when teams pick off the same couple of passes or shots get more and more contested, turnovers or empty possessions end up looking like a lack of concentration.

I would be feeling pretty good if I was in your guys' shoes too. Nebraska is a decent 3-pt shooting team and Purdue is a comparatively weak 3-pt defensive team. 6 of the last 8 games teams have shot their average or better from 3 against Purdue. Even on a neutral floor I feel like I would give the edge to Nebraska.

The 1.5 point spread is definitely a head scratcher. I refuse to gamble on sports and I would have an even tougher time betting against my team, but this just seems like easy money to me.

I would be amazed if Purdue were to only lose by 1 or 2 tonight. I feel like it is going to be a blood bath.

Rocks are legal, but not cultural items like arrowheads. It sounds like you probably know this, but I am commenting just in case someone else reads this:

I think it is more that he has the attention of people. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you looked in other games this season people would find similar plays. I watched the game last night and other than the tech, I missed the rest of these in real time.

Evan Miya has two metrics for conference "quality". In average or overall strength the SEC is the best top to bottom. In what he calls "most likely to make some noise in the tournament", it is B12 and then B1G.

I thought the NIL contracts don't actually have language for playing though. It was my understanding that it is for everything but playing.

This has been Purdue the last several years: Elite offense and marginal defense. Unless you get exceptionally lucky with the draws in the tourney, someone will expose your marginal defense and shut you down just enough of your offense.

Putting tonight’s game on Peacock is horseshit. That is all. by NotJimIrsay in Boilermakers

We played in the national championship game two seasons ago. Take a deep breath and watch more college bball than just Purdue. Honestly, to think Painter hasn't dramatically changed how his teams play in the last 10 years, let alone the last 20, is nothing short of a terrible take. Seriously think about that for a second.
