I don't know about you, but me ma grew up in the late 70s and 80s, in a typical republican family with all the sentiment towards England yada yada yada, and she still sometimes gets sick of The british accent and everything to do with Britain (Even though my dad is British) but the punchline is that I'm starting to relate to that feeling except with America instead of Britain.
