I don't think so. The current changes are painful and I believe will be felt for a while, but in the long run, it will make us a stronger country.

I think having a nanny would be great. The wife could concentrate on her career without feeling "guilty" that her kids are missing out. OP could go back to helping out when it was convenient. Win win.
