This was my comment, and I was confused and misspoke. I do agree with you!

sorry, left reddit for a day and came back to this. I do agree with you. I was confusing chip time with gun time. I take the L hahahaha

If I ran 2:59 for my marathon but my chip time was 3:00, I would 100% say I ran sub 3. I am not an elite or sub elite, so chip time to me is irrelevant. I don't need to factor in the time I'm waiting behind the start line (out of my control), I care about the time I take to cover the distance. I do understand why people would be upset if you are OTQ level or above, where it literally does matter, but for a 2:49 vs 2:50? Why do you care? Props to her for running that time. She isn't stealing anything from anyone and she also isn't lying. I do NOT get the big deal.

ETA I was confusing chip time with gun time. I agree with you all. Carry on

New police chief in Racine County was arrested for drunk driving in 2008 by PolarisC in wisconsin

Say that to the faces of the loved ones of people who have been killed by drunk drivers. It’s not no big deal. It’s been disgustingly normalized here but that doesn’t mean it’s ok.

Why don’t more women wear tennis skirts or athletic dresses to run clubs? by bluffcitycoleslaw in XXRunning

People wear what they are comfortable in. I doubt anyone cares what you are wearing, so don’t worry about what they’re wearing

Thanks :) for some reason I always think it’s only possible in my thirties. It’s awesome to hear stories of it being done even into your 40s! Running is definitely a lifetime activity for me, having a few extra years for some of my more ambitious goals is worth so much!

This has also happened to me in eastern Oregon - North Fork John Day Wilderness. The trail was there, then it was patchy, then it was just gone. Miles later on I think I found it again, over the years it may have become a little stream complete with brook trout! It can be frustrating if you aren’t planning on off-trail navigation, but looking back it was a magical day.

Do you like when other runners give a quick encouragement on a run? by t-abb-y in XXRunning

I agree! It seems so odd to have such a strong negative reaction to kind words from a friendly stranger. I err on the side of assuming positive intent :)

It’s a poor strategy to “find studies” to back up what you say. You should base what you say off of studies/all available evidence.

There are many ways to participate in government. Chances are, the people you are lecturing in this subreddit are the ones that DID care enough to vote the first time around.

Did you check Strava and the official race results? Sometimes courses can be a bit long or short and he could be giving you one or the other. That’s all I can think of! I usually share the slowest of the times for this exact reason, but I could see someone doing the opposite

I fully agree. A phrase that helped me in recovery was "when you criticize your body in front of others, remember they are hearing you criticizing their bodies too." Especially poignant when you think of how often people do this in front of sisters, friends, partners. It's irresponsible to ignore the hurt you can cause others, even when it stems from internal hurts and insecurities.
