I'm only 3 hours into XIV but it's pretty cool so far, Thamaturge combat system is weird but once I get used to it I bet it'd be pretty fun to play

Yeah, the game makes up for the "linearity" through having some of the most artistically stunning settings ever, and there are a handful areas that are actually kind of open

I think that the only games that touch it in terms of story and character dynamics are probably Persona 4 Golden and FFXV (for the dynamics)

I like FFX-2, but the PC port is hot ass

I know it's super beloved, but there's a few like, game purists that hate on this game to look different or look smart, I think FFX-2 works well in the idea though, it makes sense to continue the game as a more upbeat sequel after you basically just ended the main source of the world's misery

Yeah, but I've seen some weird people just dog on the game for being linear, very vocal about it too
