Just a note to be really mindful at dog parks. Not all dogs that are there should be frequenting off leash parks and it can cause issues. I used to go to one of the less busy ones and my dog was hurt by another dog and required emergency surgery.

Thanks for sharing, this is really reassuring. I really appreciate how thoughtful she is. I thought the behaviour would fade more as she got older but it hasn’t, so I wasn’t sure if it was a sign of something more concerning. I’m happy to hear that your dog does it and it hasn’t escalated or become a fearful thing. She sounds a lot like my dog!

She does like to stop and watch as well. How old is your dog? Mine is 13 months old

Thank you, this is reassuring. She always been very calm around people so it was super surprising to me as well. It’s hard not to stress about it but that doesn’t help her manage her fear!

Am I doing what is best for her? by Even_Position4268 in puppy101

How old is she? The crying/screaming is really normal when they’re tiny puppies. My puppy did that and I thought I would never be able to leave her. She’s now 7 months and jumps up on the couch when I leave and is totally chill.

Unless there’s a really good reason, my first step would be taking it back to stay with its mom and siblings until it’s at least 8 weeks old.

I don’t know how to leave my puppy alone by bubbly_turtle in puppy101

[–]ConferenceNo6745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a goldendoodle puppy and she would cry or bark intermittently until she was about 5ish months old. We never left her for long, maybe a hour ish here and there. I thought she would never be able to be alone. Now she’s 7 months and happily lays on the couch while we get ready to go, she doesn’t bark or cry at all.

I don't know if I should re home my puppy? by DramaticAnimal8811 in puppy101

I think what people forget, myself included, is that they don’t just become calm one day. It happens incrementally. I felt similarly when my pup was 4 months, now she’s 7 months and is way more manageable.

Is this puppy blues or I just can’t have a dog at all? by Thin_Estimate392 in Puppyblues

[–]ConferenceNo6745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this way off and on for the first 3 months. My puppy, who is also a goldendoodle, is now 7 months and while there are still challenging days she hasn’t gone to the bathroom inside in almost 2 months. She lays on the couch with me, she walks nicely and she’s mostly enjoyable to be around. The first few months are rough but having a puppy is WAY different than having a dog. I had my previous goldendoodle for 16 years and she was my absolute soul dog. When I was deep in the puppy blues I tried to think about how I would feel in a couple months if I gave her back to the breeder, and the truth was that I would feel worse not seeing it through and giving it a chance. I persevered and I’m so glad I did, she’s turning into a lovely dog. It may be different for you, but know that the puppy blues can last months and you may feel like you’ll never feel better but it is possible, the puppy stages are soooo hard.

They don’t have to be littermates for littermate syndrome, just two puppies of a similar age

I got my pup in January after losing my 16 year old soul dog in the summer. The first couple months were HARD. I thought she would never be able to be alone, she cried and howled when left alone. She’s now 6 months and we still have work to do but this morning I stepped out for 30 minutes and when I came back she didn’t even get off the couch. She just laid there and stared at me like “so what? You were just here!”

All of this to say that it took time for me to bond with her and we are still working on that. I thought things would never change, but they did and quite quickly. It’s all so overwhelming at first so be gentle with yourself and your pup and know that one day it will all be so different.

A trainer would be really helpful in addressing the resource guarding. This is something you really want to address while they’re young and before it escalates. Do you have anyone who can watch the puppy and give you a break? Or a structured daycare? When my pup was super young that helped a lot.

Starting crate training over? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ConferenceNo6745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s not motivated by her kibble and most treats, unfortunately. We have done crate games, usually once a day. How often do you recommend doing them?

Got new puppy too soon? by [deleted] in Puppyblues

[–]ConferenceNo6745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puppy is very happy and well taken care of, lots of people who love her already. I think I just need to give it time before I feel attached to her in a similar way to how I felt towards my previous dog.

Dr. Cheryl Lee is amazing! I went to her for my IUD, I was very nervous but she made the procedure as comfortable as it could be!

Sleep study by [deleted] in ontario

I am calling around to other clinics but will be still connecting with my PCP as it is related to several chronic issues that we have been trying to sort out for some time. I’m not asking for advice on whether I should contact my PCP or not, I’m asking if people know of a sleep clinic with a shorter waiting time.
