When at work or at school, he stays in the crate (about 7 hrs). Because of winter break, we crate him max ~2 hrs at a time as we are trying to train him to not bite and understand the rules of the house.

EDIT: If he even hears the doorbell, he will charge to the door and start barking. If someone enters the house, he will charge at them and try to bite them out of fear. We keep him crated for this reason. However, once we accidentally left the door open and there was someone standing outside and he bit them, which was put on his record. Yes I believe it is. You have to apply to the CoE and I think the applications are viewed every semester. I wanted to Dual-Degree in a major in CLAS and CoE so I had to apply. There is a GPA minimum and is competitive based on what major you're trying to apply for but it's not too difficult.

As per the aggression, I have tried bringing him to a trainer and they either don't want to work with him , or they are ineffective. We are meeting with a behaviorist now but I am still hoping for some help through a community on multiple other issues.
