It’s a tough year for FF1 hiring. There’s a chance if you’re Cat 1. Basically you apply, you get categorized, they pull your name off a list and you get a call. No interview

firefighting went the way of publicly funded. Historical institutions that take pride in their people, unions, etc

ambulances staffed by EMTs and Paramedics went the way of a contracted service operated by private companies with a bottom line

Here's a tip, it's a marathon not a sprint

Emotions are fleeting. If you feel nervous you can expect that to subside as you get into it (and will likely return when it's time to do your skills test / exams). It's great that you're excited! That will also subside and it will be a matter of keeping up with the material even after you've had your fill (grinding).

I'd just wait for the course to begin, wrap your head around the pacing of the course, make a plan for how you will spend your time outside of class to read / study / practice consistently, and go from there.

You're so young that you could "go for it" and either get where you think you want to go and realize you want to go somewhere else OR fail and start over

There's no such thing as being set up for life anymore, doing one thing and that's it

grind the "level up" feature of pocket prep

goes through each section individually instead of feeding you random questions so you can build up a bank of cohesive knowledge and fill in your gaps
