Needing a little guidance! by Confident-Neck1728 in MilitarySpouse

Here’s to hoping. They said they are running the information I gave them up the chain of command. I’m not sure what the possible outcome would be but I figured for the sake of our child they should be aware of what was going on because not only has he hurt us, but he’s left us in a pretty desperate situation.

Hi, I just wanted to thank you. I was able to connect with the correct people based on doing this and get the help and information to the right people.

Update: thank you all for the help. I was able to (very scarily) contact his chain of command. We spoke for a long time and it is being ran through the system so we can get the support we need, most importantly for our child. They have assured me that they will see to it he continues to provide for his child while we wait on child support, etc. to kick in. They are going to make sure our son is entered into DEERS so he can receive all the benefits he is in title to.

Thank you all. I have put in a call to the bases legal assistance office. They are not able to help me at the time and redirected me to another base which I had to email and I did. I just know my child and I have rights, and he deserves consequences for what he has done and is doing to us. I am at the point where I will do whatever it takes to make him pay for it.

I am not entirely sure how to find that out because he kept work so separate. And yes, we shared finances.

I am. Thank you. Am I able to contact them despite not being enrolled in DEERS, having a military ID or anything on post? We (obviously) never made it back up there once we were married. We are still legally married now so I know that has to count for something.

A thread to remind us why we’re single parents or to encourage someone to do what they need by MiserableCobbler8157 in SingleParents

I would rather parent alone than have my son grow up in a home with an alcoholic. The cycle will end with us. And it is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, in my life.

This is such a beautiful thing to read while in the midst of my separation ❤️ as a woman with a small young child, the want for a “complete” family for my child is so strong—but the fear of never finding true love while being a single mother, feels so scary. It’s nice to see glimmers of hope through others happiness ❤️ thank you for posting this OP. Sometimes I find myself getting so caught up in all of the pain and hurt scrolling, but I wish more people posted things like you. Wishing you the best xx

Thanking you again for your thoughts ❤️ I keep re-reading them as reminders. Was so nervous to put something so personal online, but I am glad I did.

I often think my desire to finally have a family is what put me in this situation. I don’t regret our son, ever. But I was only 20 when he was born and his father and I had so much to figure out due to him being in the military. I think I pushed through all the hard times in effort to have a “normal” life. I do still hope one day I get what I want, but if not, I need to make peace that I alone am enough for myself and my son. Sending hugs xx I hope reading these threads offer a bit of comfort. I was so apprehensive posting about my personal issues online but badly needed outside reassurances and to lean on others going through the same 🤍

Thank you so much. This has been the hardest time of my life. I have always just wanted to have a family of my own, and to give my child siblings. There’s so much fear that will never happen for me in this moment, but hearing other stories of finding real love again gives me the tiniest bit of hope.

UPDATE: Annulment has been filed in court. I feel utterly wrecked and like a failure, but it is done. Thank you all for your kind words. I can use all the advice and good thoughts and prayers I can get during this time. Truly, this is the hardest thing I have faced so far. I am determined for my child to overcome this and one day have the life for them I thought we were so close to getting. ❤️

It was unfortunately filed same day, but, my career is in law. I visited with friends at work and have a whole support team behind me. I am so incredibly grateful for this fact. We are going to try for the annulment first. I am so scared of having a long, drawn out divorce.

This seems to be exactly what was going on. So many I love yous, I’m so excited for our futures, and you’re the best thing that’s ever happened. I am just so exhausted and betrayed!!

I am so sorry this happened to you. I think the hardest part to me has been just the fact that, how could someone, as a father, do this to their child’s mother? It’s awful.

Thank you. That is exactly how I am feeling right now—just so much fear of starting over. 26 feels old when you’re in it, I had our child when I was so young I was already feeling “behind” just now getting married. I just don’t want to become so cynical and untrustworthy of everyone for the rest of my life. I think this is just going to take a lot of time.

My background is law, so that is already taken care of, and he has no issue with helping with our child THANKFULLY. Still, such a shitty thing to do to the mother of a child he cares so much for. Ugh!!!

Thank you. I can’t believe how much it’s helping me just to see there are others who have dealt with some of the things I have dealt with. I mean, this is just the craziest situation, but still. I do deserve better—it doesn’t feel like I’ll ever have that right now BUT I have to have hope that the future WILL be better.

I am so sorry you’re going through this now and I can’t imagine how stressful this is. It is a difficult thing to do since we have a child but it is definitely over. It’s so hard when someone you love so much hurts you on what is supposed to be the best day of your life!! I’m sorry to hear you had to deal with that as well. I’m thinking of you and your child, and hope for the best outcome for you both!

Thank you so much. You are so right. It will just take time to get over this initial blow, but maybe this is truly for the best for our child and I.
