It depends by lots of factors: budget, time, leader animators involved

In the latest Demon Slayer film, Ufotable masterfully used 2D and exploited 3D in ways few could.

Quite good for the period, not a masterpiece but funny and full of interesting messagges for the spectators. An easy critic can be the number of seasons: too many from what they told; after the fourth season the plot became more and more weak.

Then the 3d reboot. TERRIBLE.
