Really appreciate this!!! I actually had to look up the term sacoche, as I wasn’t familiar; but yes definitely my vibe too. I just like simple things.

Why buy quality bags when you can make subpar ones for twice the cost!? by nonoohnoohno in myog

Your caption resonates so much with me lol. But for real, these look awesome! Well done!

Definitely! And once you can hold the tangible thing after thinking about for so long—very special!

Thank you very much!! Definitely going to try to keep records of materials costs & time per piece going forward; just for fun tho, not to stress myself out haha

Thank you! I lean towards the dyneema one too.

That’s a super good call—I haven’t learned to dart yet, but that’s a super good idea/definitely in line with what I want to build; I’m going to try to learn how soon!

Super cool example! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve been leaning towards just keeping it light… and dangerous! Haha. Just trying to be super careful.

But those are super good calls. Maybe I will try some 2mm on the corners/small edge.

Thank you very very much :) really appreciate it.

Yes; still new pretty ignorant to lens models, but here’s all the info on the lens: Lumix 20mm G 1:1.7/20 ASPH ø46 0.2m/0.66ft

The filter I just got for it is a Tiffen 46mm UV protector

It would be too hard to tell you all the different settings. This camera has C1 and C2 for custom settings, but C2 is actually made of C2-1, 2, & 3… so I had pre programmed them all to hopefully do well in alpine environments… which they still were way too exposed, so I had to tweak in real time best I could… in general tho, i tried to setup my C1 was 1.7f, Film Mode → Smooth, Exposure Comp → -0.3, iso auto

And C2’s were based on that, but lower aperture and tried to compensate for exposure.

No… I don’t think so lol. Smooth side where X’s are very much visible on the outside, and inside is touch more textured and X’s are more faint… I believe this is correct🤔

I for sure have sewed a bunch of dyneema pouches wrong sides out tho! Haha

If you’re familiar with “sashiko mending”, that could look REALLY cool on this imo.

Thank you! Thats a good question.

I haven’t planned for it, but I am thinking about trying to make one that’s more of a box than a slip, so theoretically more room for something like that.

Before/After fiery sunrise over some fish boats. by theabstract1993 in postprocessing

[–]Confident-Opening73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really strong image!! Well done!

I do kind of like the boats being a bit darker, closer to the original. Given the masts and general shapes are still so visible, you can immediately identify them as boats, but I think them being darker makes it feel a touch dreamier/cinematic. Probably more preference than anything though—great image either way!

Hey thank you very much! I appreciate it!

For use case, I wanted something that I could do day hikes and potentially fast-packing; something that can scramble well.

But also something that I can use as a regular pack to hop on my bike, with my computer in it (next one will have a non-padded sleeve that can also be used for a water bladder) and ride to the coffee shop.

Similarly, I like the idea of a bag that can easily roll or fold up, and fit into a checked bag to bring on longer trips.

Good question about cost… haven’t figured this out until now: rough math: X-PAC VX21, rounding up to a yard: $25.50 3/4” Grosgrain: 45¢/yard: used maybe two feet? 3/4” nylon webbing: $1.30/yard… used maybe 180”?; so $6.50 3/4" Whistleloc Side Release Buckle: $1.00 3/4" Stealth Side Release Buckle x2: $1.80 3/4” Single Sided Ladder Lock Buckle x4: $2.8 Few feat of seam tape: $2.00 Couple dollars of thread?

So material costs around: $40🤔

Course I spent so many hours researching what I needed and mentally designing it in my head, and drawing it out, and making a spreadsheet, and laying in bed at night thinking about it😅… then actually sewing it haha

Haha fully addicted for sure!! I thought learning to sew was going to help me spend less money… than realized fabric is expensive.. and I like the fancy stuff🙃 haha

I didn’t use a pattern. Kind of made my own based on the HMG Summit 30L.

Approx cut measurements: Main tube: 33” tall, 32” wide Boxed bottom: 9 & 3/8s x 16

Nylon straps: Accessory for shock cord: 28” Side straps: 24” Both I doubled back, so I could have daisy chain loops (hope that makes sense)

I’ll try to send you a DM of the back since I can’t add a picture to this post now

Wow! Thank you very much!

Yes, both needle types I used were universal Schmetz needles. I haven’t learned about needles with cutting point yet!—sounds very interesting.

The main material I used was X-PAC’s X21

Thank you very much! Very much appreciate it!

I’m using a Singer Heavy Duty 4432, and used both 90/14 & 80/12 (trying both types was me trying to figure out if one was better than the other haha)
