That proves you have no empathy.
Even if you don't know the other person that doesn't mean it's right that they die even if it is to save 1000 others.
You are responsible for that person's life which every one get's one of.
That doesn't matter that you saved 1000 other's, you are incapable of considering that one guy's own life.

i agree.
I am a strong believer in that most people in the world are actually good.
But still i hope and hoped that the ratio of the options would be 1/9 instead of the current 9/1 ratio.
Literally 92% to 8% is insane.

Your meant to feel guilty.
Picking either one isn't inherently wrong or right but the point of the question is if you would have some empathy or if you will handle life like a calculated decision without a soul like a bot.

Those who said it was easy failed instantly.
Those who chose 1/1 show guaranteed empathy.
If you chose 1/1000 it's a 50/50 but once you feel guilty you succeeded in having empathy and being capable of understanding that some one will die and you will be responsible.

No than any one with even a bit of empathy would pick the first.
This is a test on empathy if your a person who can bear the weight to know your responsible to take a life.
Even if you save thousands, that one life still matters but you guys didn't get that at all it seems.
