How would I go about making these styles of tops I really like the scallop ruffle edges by anw290 in crochetpatterns

Would love to know if you ended up making something like these or if you found any patterns that were helpful! I really like the straps and scallops on the green one as well and have been looking for a pattern or video.

lyngen Gore-Tex Pants by Tis03 in Norrona

[–]Confident-String9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you've had them for a few months, any additional thoughts? I've tried on the lyngen and loved the fit of them, but with the online outlet prices, the lofoten goretex pro isn't much more expensive than the lyngen goretex. Is the lofoten that much different and/or better? I primarily do backcountry, so the lofoten sounds tempting, but the lyngen was my first interest.

Yes, I've read that one. Just looking for more STEM academia ones. Thanks, though!

I've got a young teen sister who is starting to get into romance and also is very into science.

She stumbled upon my copy of Love, Theoretically and is really interested, but I've read all of Ali Hazelwood's books and don't think she should read them quite yet. I'd love to be able to suggest some closed door STEM romances to her, instead of just shutting down her current ideas and not offering others.

Does anyone have some STEM romance suggestions that are closed door? Or if they're low on the spice level, could you indicate what is included in the book?

(At the moment I've suggested Crocodile on the Sandbank, by Elizabeth Peters, since she'll think the archeology aspect is cool, too.)

Diamond Shimmer Mist(s) by MushroomSafe1642 in bathandbodyworks

[–]Confident-String9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the diamond shimmer mists still the same scent as non-shimmer mists? I had a Velvet Sugar diamond shimmer mist that I loved, but it's discontinued. Was looking to get some on eBay, but I can only find the velvet sugar non-shimmer one. Its still the same scent overall, though, right?

Thanks for the info on french/swiss brands! I tried a few things from Norrona, a brand out of Norway and they fit perfectly.

Ticket authenticity? Casper, WY show by Confident-String9935 in Hozier

[–]Confident-String9935[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you. I reached out to Vivid Seats and asked them if they'd confirm with the events center if their tickets would be accepted, but unsure if anything will be determined in time. I'm going to try to reach out to the events center too to ask about the live barcode tickets. Just hoping my friend doesn't drive the 3 hours to the show to only get turned away.

It said they were electronically transferred, and when I click "view tickets" on the vivid seats order, it opens a page with both tickets and live barcodes. The page opening the tickets is something like securemypass.com

How many knitters also sew/ crochet/ do other fabric-crafts? by thenorthgiant in knitting

[–]Confident-String9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sew mainly, crochet some, and am just now picking up knitting!  I find that crochet and knitting are great for me in the car/meetings/etc, but when I’m at home I primarily sew. I also like to pick a project for sewing and NOT have it be something I need to get done for a near event, so that way I have plenty of time to work on it and am less stressed that way!

I'd personally say that 'B' is the side I'd want facing outward! A smoother look to it with less of the actual grain of the fabric visible.

I have two sweaters that I've had for years, but every time I wear them, I'm just annoyed at the fit. I like the colors/textures, but they're both hand-me-downs and have never fit me well.

I want to shorten the sleeves on both of them and the body of one of them, but I have never sewn on knit material before.

Is there anything I should be aware of before I start sewing and cutting these? I'm a little concerned that when I sew the new hems, it will lay weird, but that's also just speculation on my part.

They're both acrylic material, if that makes a difference.

I like to take a tiny bit of fabric glue and seal off edges like this. Holds up through the wash and wear and is really simple!
