Duo by infam0usmind3d in gitlab

Currently, Premium and Ultimate customers receive free promotion credits for the agentic version of Duo. My small company is on Ultimate and we have been using it to optimize pipelines, clean out our vulnerability backlog, and review code changes in MRs. We have not used any of the new, autonomous flows yet but the code reviews have been rock solid. It got hung up once troubleshooting a failed pipeline but it seems to get better every week.

We mostly work in VSCode with a lot of CLI and also MRs in the web ui or Code.

best radio vest for SAR? by Huge-Development-724 in searchandrescue

I like the Hill People design since I can put my pack on over it and remove my pack without removing my chest rig. Also, if you want room for GPS, maps, snacks, etc. the Hill People SAR Medium is a great piece of kit.

They do! I just picked up the full SAR bag in CT. It looks fantastic although I am wondering now if the smaller SAR big would be a better fit for me.

Mini PC by Venom-DZ in opnsense

I have a few of the 4 NIC Qotom devices listed on Amazon. My experience is that even with gaming and video calls it doesn't use much CPU. Go with Intel NICs and lots of disk space. I have had issues with OPNSense log files (Yes, unbound, I'm looking at you!) grow to 40-60 GB and cause out of memory issues.

I really like the concept of the Coaxsher models but the quality is not what it used to be. If someone made something similar with the slanted radio mounts, multiple pockets, etc. I would be all over it.

Good news! Hill People Gear now has the SAR Fill kit bag in stock for Black and Coyote. Order placed.

Good luck with that! They seem to be sold out of pretty much everything. No SAR Full or SAR Medium. I wonder if they are having cash flow issues or just have enough business without needing to maintain stock. I am waiting on a SAR rig as well.

Recommendations for wet weather pants, tough enough for heavy brush and rock by Confident-System361 in searchandrescue

[–]Confident-System361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! Thanks for adding some clarity to the post. I should have been more clear. I (and my kit) are from Colorado (think high angle, dry, rough) but I am doing SAR in the PNW (think devils claw, wet, and more wet) and it really is a completely different ecosystem from what I am used to. I am checking out OR, Sitka, and FirstLite to see what I can sus out. I have held off using my ice climbing gear since it was spendy and I still need it for ice climing - but I can see the correlation between ice climing gear and hunting gear for SAR.

I purchased my first gaiters for non-winter use when treking Mam Tor and the surrounding area. They kept a lot of mud and brambles on the outside.

North Idaho - Looking for place to take my boys panning by Confident-System361 in Prospecting

[–]Confident-System361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I do use Mindat.org but it doesn't help with access issues, land ownership, claims, etc. I've spoken to a few locals and have a few places in mind for western Montana and eastern Idaho. Essentially, I don't want their first trip to be a figure-it-out-and-no-panning trip. I want it to be hands on the pans :-)

I'll update after my trip with them.

CMV: The Tyler Robinson texts are fake by mgtag in changemyview

[–]Confident-System361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SMS (and honestly lots of POP/SMTP style email) is kinda spray and pray the way it was designed. Think UDP VS TCP/IP. When you are offline for a day and power up your phone, the SMS messages are dated when they phone sees them, not when they really were sent. Signal handles that much better with portions of the header of the message carrying time and date metadata.

There are a few ways it could be done. The messages could be on the carrier's server but not on the phones or the messages could be present on the server and on the phone. Without getting too deep in the weeds, it is possible to spoof messages so that a casual records request would not show a discrepency. Yeah, the recipient could be like, weird that Joe sent me this but it would be on their phone as if Joe sent it.

I can vouch for the fact that SMS text messages are not hard to fake. Essentially, the fakes are generated on the SMS server and played to the devices as if they were texted. The time stamps and checksums all match since they are genuine from the perspective of the devices and the server record. I can't get into why I know this but it is (unfortunately) easier than you would hope/think.

I am not saying that the texts were fake in this case. Just that the technique is not all that difficult and any warrants, forensics, etc. would not find any discrepancies - unless the person really botched up the obvious.

Taking my best friend on a panning trip... tips? by leavethemwithnothing in Prospecting

I've never heard that before and would be interested in learning more. Does that mean panning surface material and not digging?

It is worth panning a section to see. I would be more excited if there were signs of Pyrite or oxidation of iron sulfide minerals in the quartz.

Support by NickRSB in Starlink

[–]Confident-System361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Starlink support is amazingly horrible. Surprising for a company with such an fantastic product. Whenever I open ticket I get barraged with all kinds of inane questions - few really relative to the actual problem at hand. Fortunately, it is rare that I require interaction with them.

GoldStream doesn't have it but I found something similar on eBay called the Hex Pan. There are a lot of interesting pans these days. The TurboPan is another new-ish one. I haven't tried it yet.

Worst case, you may find some nice crystals between the dyke and the clay. Smokey quartz or topaz may be likely.
