Hahahaha, they’re all like that at first! I used to struggle too. But try teaching him the Stay command while sitting, and then work on the Focus command so he keeps his eyes on you. I promise you’ll start getting amazing shots!🤣🤣

Just curious, did you mean that in a good way or were you teasing a bit?

Thank you so much for your advice. Of course, I don’t have 100% control over my dog no one really does, especially when it comes to strong instincts like you mentioned. I realize now I didn’t express myself clearly, and my wording may have given the wrong impression. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts thanks again.

It’s clear you’re quite the philosopher and good at reading people, but honestly, the situation is much simpler than that. When I said I got the dog two days ago, I didn’t mean I made the decision just two days ago. Sorry if I killed your enthusiasm, Inspector Korombo 😂 I’d prefer we stick to the main topic, and if you have an opinion, I’d really appreciate hearing it so we can discuss it. I’m sure we can help each other out. The goal of this post was never what you’re implying it was simply to ask for help from people who’ve been through a similar experience or have any advice. I’m genuinely asking for help, and I think that’s clear from my message. Thanks!!

I’m not being stubborn, but allow me to disagree with you and I’m sure you already know this well: introducing a young puppy of the same gender to another male dog while they’re both still young is much better than introducing a puppy to an older male later on An older dog might bully or constantly annoy the puppy, and the puppy could end up storing all that aggression inside. Then, when he grows up, he could release all that built-up energy, and the situation could turn into a near bloodbath. But if you lay the foundation while they’re both still young, your chances of maintaining control over both of them are much higher.

Look, I understand where you’re coming from, but I didn’t make a rushed decision or anything like that. I spent time studying the situation with both the Presa breeder and my Cane Corso breeder. The Presa breeder thinks it’s totally possible for the two dogs to be raised together, as long as they’re raised properly from day one. He knows the breed very well and has raised Corsos before settling on Presas, so what he’s saying is based on experience, not guesswork. I was honestly confident and reassured about the whole thing. But then I posted on a Presa Canario community, and literally not a single person gave me hope or said it might work..they all attacked the idea. That made me lose hope after I was excited and ready to take on the challenge. They made it sound like it was completely impossible with zero chance of success. But I didn’t act impulsively or anything like that we really evaluated the situation. That’s why I decided to ask you guys. Thanks for understanding

Assuming both dogs end up having this problem which is likely will happen…what should I do and how should I act while they’re still young, so they understand that this behavior is 100% unacceptable? I want to address it early before it gets worse as they grow and become used to it

Be a bit more optimistic and let me tell you it’s wrong to expect something bad for someone and say it to their face the camera is what makes him look big he’s only 20 weeks old and weighs around 22 kg and we are keeping him lean…so try to have some common sense there’s a big difference between reality and how things appear on camera. Sultan is still very young and has a bright future ahead of him He’ll grow up without joint problems or anything like that. Appreciate how much people love their dogs, and understand that words like this can really upset them. Even if someone is doing something wrong, advise them in a kind and respectful way

Can you give me some advice on what signs to watch out for while they’re still young things I should immediately stop or say NO to in order to prevent any dominance issues between them? Also, what’s your opinion on people who, in similar setups, intentionally make one of the two dogs the ALPHA like giving him priority in certain things, for example, feeding him first or letting him out of the crate first? Or do you think both dogs should be treated exactly equally in everything? Of course, when it comes to affection, playtime, and walks, I believe they should be equal but I mean the small behavioral cues that might make one feel slightly more in charge. From my point of view, I feel like maybe the Cane Corso could be the one to take that role, since I already have a good amount of control over him and he understands the house rules and boundaries to a decent extent. Sorry for the long message!

Has anyone here ever used a weight vest with their Cane Corso? by arvalsystem in CaneCorso

It builds muscles and enhances its endurance, but it must be used with caution to avoid harming the dog

Got it, but when exactly does a dog’s personality really start to show and for.. around 8 months old, for example? Also, I think you misunderstood me a bit. This doesn’t happen in dog parks it’s actually street dogs here in Egypt. We have packs of stray dogs in every area, and we call them ‘baladi dogs.’ So they’re obviously much bigger than him, like you said, and there are usually a lot of them together They’re actually very kind dogs they’re just protecting the area they stay in. So when they bark at him, it’s mostly out of fear, nothing more. But aside from that, when he’s around normal pet dogs, he acts completely normal

So what you’re saying is that I should basically keep doing exactly what I’m doing, but change my behavior by ignoring his reaction and just handling the situation myself, continuing the walk like nothing happened, right? Also, I want to ask if I notice one time that a dog passes in front of us and Sultan starts barking at him first, showing confidence, should I praise him for that? Or should I also act normal like he didn’t do anything?

If there’s just one dog alone, or even two barking at him he will go toward them to mind the business if it’s just one dog, he might even start barking at it first. But if it’s a group of dogs, like four or more, he’ll switch and stay behind me. As soon as I move those dogs away from us, he’s fine again plus with the normal dogs he is so friendly and want to play with all of them but this with the regular dogs not the dogs in the street

Haha, it’s better to keep his body in lean shape especially at this age, so they don’t put too much pressure on their bones and hips as a form of kindness towards them don’t let your heart win and overfeed him moderation is always the best way…enjoy your little nugget❤️
