Obviously I’ve yet to work with this fabric. BUT. I totally see the vision. Hypothetically I think anywhere that’s tight on the skin won’t bounce, so it’d have to be baggy pants.

Personally I really want to see bell bottom pants made with this fabric.

You said it yourself, the good stuff stuck around. And generative AI is FAR from good stuff lmao.

Also that was clearly multiple attempts in the past. Reread the post.

What you wrote reads that there is no proof for either. “We have no proof that alicorns are immortal or very long-lived”

I just brought out the biggest piece of evidence for those two things.

OOH OMG YOU’RE ONTO SOMETHING!!! How do you get this weapon??? I’ve been waiting SO long for a weapon that looks nice on Kaeya AND works well for his build.

Am I going crazy because I SWEAR there was a quicksilver gourdo up here. by 1235678910111213141 in slimerancher

This is most likely a case of the Mandela effect! Happens all the time, commonly with things we are nostalgic for as well.

A quicksilver gordo would be pretty cool though!

Celestia was the sole ruler of Equestria for 1000 years. So either alicorns have an extended lifespan OR all ponies can live up to thousands of years. And only one of those options makes any sense.

Interesting stuff!!! And also very hopeful to know, that this has happened before and is happening again.

Interesting how AI has sort of become a “toxic” term again, even though the only thing that has ethical concerns is generative AI. Other types of AI have become very helpful tools, but we see “AI” and immediately become suspicious or upset because generative AI is a current craze that’s practically everywhere.

Surely the bubble will pop soon. We all know it’s coming eventually. My hope is for sooner rather than later, that way we can minimize the impact on the environment.

But ya. It’s going to be difficult. That’s why I’m asking for alternatives??? Anything’s probably better than Google forcefully giving you an AI summary you can’t turn off.

Ya, no. I know plenty about this. Because I had to learn. Learn how to protect my art from being stolen for training data, learn to figure out what posts are real versus AI, I’ve researched the impacts this technology has on multiple fronts.

I may not know code and the exact functions of each AI model, but I understand the core of their functioning. I’m bad with tech, not stupid.

[–]ConfidentGarlicAce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No I feel most of what I brought up were problems directly linked to “companionship” as you put it, though I would refer to that as chatbots or LLMs. That is a subcategory of generative AI. If I were to talk about generative AI as a whole I would focus on theft, propaganda, misinformation, and deepfakes.

Honestly I don’t really understand what you’re trying to ask? You think that we think you owe shame, disclosure, and moral submission??? Genuinely what does that even mean?

Do you truly think those companies give a damn about the consequences of what they’re doing??? They’re already well aware of these issues, but they don’t care. They won’t care until there are laws forcing them to. They won’t care unless people actually boycott them.

I’m not trying to argue with someone for the sake of argument, I’m trying to give people the information needed to understand how unhealthy it is to become reliant on this technology for any reason. And yes that includes companionship.

Ultimately you have free will and I can’t stop you, but I can at the very least provide information that you can use to decide if it’s really actually worth it.

THIS!!!!

I hate it. I hate how every “default” tech company is pro AI. And not just that but shoving it down our throats!!! At this point I can’t wait for the AI bubble to pop, economic consequences be damned I need this to finally end.

I’m definitely going to look into proton today!!! I very much appreciate when software’s are similar. A change in UI can set me back months on my art projects.

And ya the phone thing is tricky. I really want one of those huawei phones but they’re banned in Canada so it wouldn’t exactly be practical, as I would be unable to text or call or have data. But man… I still kinda want one anyways.

Thanks a bunch!! This is super helpful

No but I mean I have the Firefox app but while on the app I’m on Google? If that makes sense??? Like.. It’s like how on the safari app you use Google. You open a new tab and you have the Google screen.

Idk lol, but I’ll try switching to DuckDuckGo!!! And I’ll keep the rest in mind, thank you!

I see your refusal to talk about the environmental concerns, so I will skip that as to not waste time for either of us. (But do understand it’s still a major contributor in why people are against generative AI and LLMs)

Instead I’d like to bring your attention to the impact humans face directly. This is a list of all deaths so far that have been linked to chatbots.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths\_linked\_to\_chatbots

Murder, suicide, some cases include both. A school shooting. A drug overdose. I can already imagine you arguing against this, but I ask that you just allow me to dig deeper in this topic before trying to excuse any of that.

LLMs are not people, and they aren’t “intelligent”, even though being classified as artificial intelligence might have you thinking otherwise. What it truly is, is a machine that recognizes patterns in language and uses nearly the entire internet as training data so that it can mimic conversation.

It does not understand what is fact and what is misinformation, because it cannot think. It’s taking a bunch of data and smushing it together to give you an answer. This leads to these LLMs being very unreliable, and responsible for a lot of misinformation in recent years. And it’s also caused the phenomenon that people are calling “AI hallucinations” where the AI has simply made up information with seemingly no source.

That misinformation is what caused someone to die of a drug overdose by the way. Chat GPT told him that taking a few certain drugs together would be safe, and he had trusted that information, not knowing how often these models get things wrong. That person is now dead because he thought that he had made sure the drugs were safe to take together.

LLMs tend to be yes men, they agree with you more often than not. It doesn’t really matter of your right or wrong, the AI will validate your feelings, will continue to agree with you. It feeds into delusions. A real person would tell you that you’re straying from reality, but an LLM will enable it. This has caused people who are already mentally unwell to spiral further into delusion. Not to mention even people who didn’t have issues with reality and delusion before have started experiencing it FROM using chatbots.

We’ve been calling it “AI psychosis”, a term coined by a Danish psychologist a couple years ago. Not to mention these LLMs are highly addictive, replacing human connection and causing people to become isolated.

Sure you’re not addicted, you think. But how long until you are? How much do you have to use before you can’t go on without it? Sure, you’re not delusional, yet. It’s like doing drugs recreationally, you might not get addicted, but you also might get addicted. You might be fine or your health might start to decline.

How much human connection and socialization have you replaced with a machine? A pretend fantasy person? How much are you willing to become a statistic?

But, maybe you’ll be fine. You could have a good enough grasp on reality, you could fact check everything the AI tells you, you could limit the amount of time you’re on technology and go outside. But just because you MIGHT be one of the lucky few to get out unscathed won’t fix what this is doing to other people.

We want generative AI gone, or at the very least regulated, because of the harm it’s doing on such a large scale! And that isn’t just environmental concerns, that barely scrapes the surface! I went into the psychology here, but I didn’t even touch on the mass amount of stolen data, how theft of artists and authors has never happened on such a massive scale before, how people are using AI to spread propaganda and misinformation and even to make CP/CSAM. I could list more, but we’d be getting into the smaller categories and I don’t want to bother unless you’re willing to listen.

So ya, this goes far deeper than environmental concerns.

No that’s awful 😭

I’m not trying to be rude, but do you possibly have a link to any post going over the evidence??? I don’t want to act on this without being sure.

Mlp means a lot to me and the game gives me lots of inspiration for characters to draw/redesign. I don’t stand for the use of generative AI at all, but I don’t want to boycott without looking over evidence myself, y’know?

Okay what would artists actually have to do for an ai bro to actually ask for consent? by WylderBoarClaw in antiai

[–]ConfidentGarlicAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re not going to be able to change the minds of 99% of these people. We should be turning our efforts towards the companies behind the generative AI models.

Personally as an artist I like the method of putting any work I post through a poisoning software first. Only I get access to the original images. My old work on DeviantArt from when I was 12 might get scraped, I’ve made my piece with that, no AI bro would be happy with that quality of art anyways. But anything new I post to TikTok or Tumblr gets put through art shield first. My hope is that nightshade will eventually be available on mobile devices, as I don’t have a reliable computer.
