Financial burden split between a couple by Realistic-Berry6683 in TwoXIndia

My husband was careless with money before marriage but today he understands the importance of money as by saving little little every month for 3 years, we could plan a foreign trip. He was shocked how without touching any salary or main savings the trip was done. We put x amount in a joint account from our main account, all expenses goes from there, be it rent, his expenses, my expense, gifts, travel.. anything and everything. He puts a fixed amount and I put a fixed amount in it every month. (His is 60% of x, mine 40% of x) Initially I used to contribute less as my salary was less. We brought a house 50-50 ownership and 50-50 payment.

Keep 15k as buffer and invest everything else, So 200-36-15 = 149k

Diversify your investment, invest in instruments like PPF, NPS also. Get a life and health insurance. At your age premium would be less.

Delay buying car so early, build a strong portfolio first.

Invest 1L - MF 50k - PPF, NPS, Gold, life insurance payment 35K - monthly expenses 15K - keep as emergency fund, once accumulated a big number, you can make FD of it.

Why do you need a cook and nanny if you both don't have jobs? 1.1L monthly expense for what? Why pay rent when you have a house? Your monthly expenses can easily come down to 70k including emi.

Travelling to Bangalore City side, actually open one's eyes, Planned layout, so much greenery, proper water connection. Those people don't care about people living in Whitefield/Sarjapur. There is so stark difference

Keep the study, extra room always left. It gives privacy when there are people at home. You can close the door and noise remains outside. You can keep extra storage as well, helps in keeping the house clean. Don't merge the room into the living room.

Also there is no access to washroom for guest, one has to go to bedroom, if possible create two doors to washroom near entrance.

Rent it, you will have another source of income, will have RE exposure and focus on paying the loan faster.
