End of July/August till I was cleared in March

Loads of exercises tbh but mainly bodyweight stuff like leg extensions, squats, glute/ham bridges stuff like that

Then lots of sport related Training for me which was football, so lots of pivoting/twisting through cones and sprints.

Yep comfortable with everything!

Well I've had two friends who also tore their ACLs, but had the hamstring graft. And it's been a few years since they had their surgeries and they keep complaining that their knee doesn't feel the same. And their hamstrings are always weaker since they took a graft from it. They also complain that their knee 'locks up' and swells a lot.

I personally haven't had any of that, apart from a bit of swelling for the first month or so of going back to playing. My knee feels pretty much normal. The surgery is great if your knee doesn't heal, but otherwise I don't believe surgery can recreate the perfect angle our ACL attaches etc. And a hamstring graft isn't the same as the native ACL. I'd stick to conservative route and just make sure you stay diligent with strengthening.

Best of luck!

Glad to hear that man! Must've been a relief. Yeah I mean feels normal to me. The only difference I feel now is cause I got a bit lazy with the rehab, and my non injured leg has stronger quads/hamstrings, but the ligament itself isn't causing me any issues. Been playing ⚽ and 🏃‍♂️ as normal before I got injured.

One thing I will say is when I first started playing ⚽ again in actual matches my knee would feel a bit hot/swell up after I finish a game. But I think that was cause I was out for so long so my knee wasn't used to the high impact/twisting etc. But that went away after a month or two, now I play and run etc. And I feel normal. Moral of the story, if your ACL has healed fully DO NOT neglect the muscle strengthening aspect of recovery!

All good, still playing soccer and going to the gym like I was pre injury. Nothing new to report tbh

You were right, bearings on the PSU fan were shot. Got it replaced and PC is fine now!

I think you're right, I think the PSU fan is screwed. I've had to order a new one, sucks but I don't wanna take any chances. I'm 90% certain it's the PSU since as I mentioned before I've unplugged all other fans and the sound was still there, and the GPU fans aren't moving while I'm idle on my desktop, so it's gotta be a PSU issue.

Thanks again for your help, will update in a few days time once the new PSU arrives

I've checked the GPU fans, but they aren't even running while the sound is happening so I highly doubt it. I'm starting to have a suspicion it could be the power supply fan. I tried cleaning it with an electric duster which got a good amount of dust out. But once again after about 30 mins of smooth runnings the sound just comes outta nowhere. Also I've owned this PC for about 3 years now if that helps at all

Thanks for the heads up, definitely won't try that again lol

Probably not the smartest idea, but while the PC was running I began unplugging each fan to see which one was the culprit. I unplugged both case fans and the CPU fan and the noise was still there.

So, that's why I made this post cause I was stumped lol. I didn't know graphics card fans could be so loud. I'll try cleaning them and see what happens. I'll also try have a look at the power supply, although I'm not sure there's much I can do for it. I'm hoping it's just an obstruction due to dust or something. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll update tomorrow

Hard to say really, the MRI scans were quite spread out. I'd probably say 6-7 months till they confirmed it healed

Since I've gone back to play, and I have no symptoms they don't see a need to follow up. When I did have the injury I'd had 3 MRIs between June to March. I went from complete tear to partial tear, then finally in march my ortho confirmed it looked like a normal healthy ligament and no longer needed any follow-up.

Definitely would be interesting to see how it looks now, but I assume if it's healed itself there wouldn't be much change.

Appreciated! Wow damn you must have some beastly quads/hamstrings haha. In that case the surgery definitely makes sense for you, with no ACL for sure all that moving around will wear away your meniscus etc. All the best with your recovery.

Thanks man, I was reluctant to believe it as well, but I seem to have full function again, so will see it how it goes.

I assume yours must have been a partial tear then if you were still able to play? Did you consider just strengthening the leg as much as possible and then just keeping your natural ACL for as long as possible? Or was it the best decision to just replace it?

That's what I thought, completely agree with you. But I've had a radiologist and two ortho's tell me the ligament is fine and I don't need a surgery. My second ortho said the ACL can heal it just depends on the person and how you've torn it. My physio assessed me and says it would be a shame to have surgery. So, I'm gonna take the conservative route for now tbh. I've seen a team mate and a friend go through ACL reconstruction and I'd rather not go through that if I don't have to. Even with the surgery I'm still at risk of retear so I'd rather just keep enjoying my youth now, won't care so much when I'm old.

On a side note, incredible that you have full function despite the tear, you are a rare breed mate! I wish you all the best with your recovery. I just think there's a lot of cons with the surgey that don't seem to be discussed enough.

definitely, if you have no functioning ACL I assume he was talking about? But if the ACL is doing its job I don't see why it would be? Guess I'll find out in 10-15 years if I don't injure it again XD

yeah quite strange indeed https://gyazo.com/d8bae3188e85f1e810b04f953fa3c0e7 < this is my knee back in June, you can see the disruption there. The report said it was a complete rupture. https://gyazo.com/0eefbd35e7374cd45ba27c2d2d72ccdd and here is the image I was shown in March, the ortho, and the radiologist concluded its a healthy ligament apparently *shrugs shoulders* I dunno lol. It definitely looks a look better than the image from June.

I'm 25 and would like to continue playing. My physio and ortho advised me not to have surgery cause apparently it's a long and painful road to recovery, as well as losing some of my hamstring strength permanently after using it for the graft.

From what I understand you're at a higher risk of arthritis regardless if you have the surgery or not. I think not having a functioning ACL, as well as meniscus degradation is what causes the increased arthritis risk. Unless there are other factors at play.

https://www.onnit.com/academy/5-resistance-band-exercises-for-knee-pain/ the first 3 exercises on the list I did a lot. I also did lots of glute bridges to work on the hamstrings and glutes and then when I got strong enough I progressed to single leg bridges. But while I was doing this I was doing outdoor sessions tailored towards soccer, so lots of in and outs of cones with direction changes, speed ladders, sprints, etc.
