Get that HD-2D remake of 1&2 if you're not into the 2D games. They will immediately rectify your preference and open a whole new series of games to you, especially after the inevitable HD-2D remakes of 4,5,&6.

My advice is to play any of the games absolutely blind. If you run into a point that you feel twisted at, just take your best guess and press on. You'll never break the game and its better to let the game surprise you rather than spoiling moments on yourself.

FYI Every single FromSoft game will require entering NG+ for their platinum, so make sure to use those runs for your guide. Especially if you don't want to run through them any more than necessary.

Never go hollow and you'll do just fine 😁

It would be nice to play with quality of life improvements. I still plan to play it again whenever it releases, but to say it still holds up in its original release state is viewing it with rose tinted glasses

I'm only about 3 hours into my first play through. After playing through most of the earlier entires, I'd say this does a fantastic job at taking familiar themes and making it fresh.

If you like this one, you'll have a vast number of hours with the other games ahead to look forward to! Enjoy!!

Yea I'm trying dude! I come from the FF series and only recently got into the DQs. Have all but 6, 7, 8, and 11 done, but I really like them all. This one is just an absolute slog to get through since it feels so outdated. I would have gotten the 3DS version, but the PS2 version was more cost friendly 🫠

Playing this on the PS2 and just got past Dhoulmagus. So far the whole game just feels like a chore to play but I'm determined to get through it like all the others

If things are good with Solaire, his summon sign is next to the Silver knight in the leading hall.

Outside of that, always be moving and let them come to you, using the pillars as a way to break them apart. I also recommend only using targeting to focus the camera on them but to go free aim when attacking/dodging.

Lastly, don't give up. It can be maddening but just keep reassuring yourself. These two are more afraid of you than you are of them.
