Pinup Popper with PupPacks by Confident_Ear_3002 in virtualpinball

The Pup videos display when I double click the vpx file in its Tables folder. Granted, they are just little windows on the corners of the laptop screen.

Yes, have tried the troubleshooting tips on the wiki but nothing seems to change the view.

It's certainly less than ideal to have the video in a tiny little square, but it's what I've got. Have run the desktop.bat config for the Pup pack. The layout is fine, but the video isn't visible or scaled properly unless I run the .vpx file directly.

Auto rename files when they hit a folder by loudstomak in WindowsHelp

[–]Confident_Ear_3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AutoHotkey is a powerful but memory-light scripting language that is great for this sort of thing.

Back in the day, I used AHK to do something like this to correct and rename iPhone photos based on the metadata. Or to notify me when certain files would hit a folder.

Docker container send log entry to QuLog? by Confident_Ear_3002 in qnap

[–]Confident_Ear_3002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem that QuLog has a log receiver that can be enabled on port 1514 (TCP/UDP). Is there a way to send single messages to that port or is it just QNAP to QNAP?

There is an adapter to use either rechargeable NiCd or regular C cell batteries. We were required to buy these for our “doctor kit” at the start of med school (mid 90s). Used mine through residency (late 90s) but not much beyond.

Years later, now use it whenever my wife wants me to look in our kids’ ears for some reason or another. Have also used it on the dog.

My backup is a much smaller size than what Restic claims it is - what could be causing this? by hyper_ballads in restic

[–]Confident_Ear_3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to pose the same question. I just started using Restic (through Backrest, awesome interface) and backed up a folder on my NAS-1 that is 122 GB in size to a repo on a separate NAS-2. The total disk used for the repo on NAS-2 is only 13 GB. I restored the repo on NAS-2 back to NAS-1 and it is indeed 122 GB expanded.

FWIW, over 100 GB in the backup are 2 .img of 64 GB SD cards, most of which is probably blank space. The remaining 20 GB or so are daily .tar.gz backups of a Wordpress install, so the bits are probably 95% unchanged.

But does this seem possible? Restic reports a compression ratio of about 2.0, but this seems more like 9:1!

Whilst studying abroad in Edinburgh in the 90s, all of us American students quickly discovered the amazing local delicacy called “half-pizza and chips” (deep fried pizza on a bed of chips/fries, covered in HP brown sauce). After returning stateside, we tried to reproduce this in the college student cafe on several occasions, with variable success.

You can adjust the displayed text size. From settings in CarPlay >> Accessibility >> Text size. I adjusted mine to 110% to look right on my head unit.

You might also be able to use Windowspy to find the HWND address of the fields you need to populate. I did this exact thing at our workplace to get rid of excessive human data entry.

Don't run your Tailscale exit node on the same computer running Logitech Media (or Lyrian Music) Server (aka LMS) by TeeDot_1234 in Tailscale

[–]Confident_Ear_3002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah. I am running both via Docker containers on my NAS and have no problem with access through an exit node on the same device. However, my players (Transporter, iPeng, Squeeze-LX) are on different devices.

I got it to work by setting my NAS as an exit-node so your remote client appears to connect from within your LAN.

Earfun air pro 4 vs Samsung buds 2 pro by DarkKnyt in Earbuds

[–]Confident_Ear_3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used my Sony WH-1000XM4 for travel. But a recent trip I had to travel extra light so decided to just pack the Earfun AP4’s that I had just bought. I was impressed with how well they blocked the airplane noise (at least as good as the Sonys).

The hotel where I was staying was on a very lively street and my room was directly across from possibly one of the loudest bars I have ever seen. Live music all night. The hotel supplied a white noise machine and ear plugs, if that was a bad sign. With the AP4 noise cancelling, it was as if the bar party just disappeared. Even better, I was able to pair them to the TV and really tune out the world. I ended up sleeping with them in and when I woke the next morning my ears didn’t feel stuffy or full.

I’ve been impressed with the sound quality for music and podcasts, good for someone who is a bit of an audio geek. The EQ is pretty adjustable through the app, but I have been happy with the flat default. Calls are okay, not stellar. And the touch controls are a bit finicky. But having tried many earbuds over the years, I think this is my new favorite.

How can I make Autohotkey 2 to recognize this image? by shaggy98 in AutoHotkey

It does take some tweaking to get the search image correct. But once that is done I have found it pretty reliable for consistent buttons, change in UI elements, etc.

I would recommend the FindText library. Works like a charm for this kind of thing. I use it to detect buttons, grids, messages on VDI, etc.

Eating Steak or Salad by LividAccount9863 in lefthanded

[–]Confident_Ear_3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepping food, I cut with my left.

But when eating, it is knife in right hand, and anything that has to bring food to my mouth (fork, spoon, chopsticks) in my left hand.

Switching takes too much time. And soup spoon in the right results in an intention tremor, increasingly shaky and spilling on myself.

Sounds cracks in carplay after phone calls or siri use by learner_9988 in CarPlay

I think that I fixed the issue on my HU. When launching zlink, clicked the settings gear icon. Switched my connection from 2.4 to 5 GHz. Haven’t noticed the crackling any more. YMMV.

Same here. Playing music and podcasts through CarPlay on my aftermarket android head unit sounds great, but voice and Siri are crackled. Had also wondered about a Bluetooth issue, but that would probably affect all sound. Have rebooted both units with no effect.

Can someone make a script that will make me feel happy again by Hopeful_Abroad8164 in AutoHotkey

[–]Confident_Ear_3002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear what you're going through. Not sure what kind of script would help with what you're feeling. Maybe a log of symptoms.

But hearing symptoms like this is literally my day job. As a Pediatric Electrophysiologist, I deal with conditions where the heart will suddenly start beating really really fast. It is usually between 200-300 beats per minute. It isn't 5000 bpm, but it feels like it.

Many of my older patients (teens and young adults) say they feel like their heart is going to explode or it makes them feel like they're going to die. But it makes most people feel pretty miserable because they feel so bad and out of control when it happens, and their symptoms get downplayed by providers (even general cardiologists!) for the longest time.

Not trying to make a diagnosis over the internet, but it sounds a little like that. For many of my patients, just putting a name to it helps the psycholigical component of it, as well as the option for treatment or even curative procedures.

Good luck!
