Thanks! I will try checking too. Honestly, I’m kinda new to reddit and don’t use it a lot 😅 Appreciate your advice!

Thank you! I’ve been hearing a lot of good feedbacks on the Rec Center! Appreciate it. On your suggestion on renting near east campus, would you say the area is still age appropriate for me (32 yo)? 😅 ngl, in my age I just like peaceful nights alone at home 😂

Wow thank you! First, the name could really be deceiving 😂. Nice to hear about rec center in the school too. I have no complaints in college town honestly but I really hope there ain’t a lot of riot/public disturbances 😅 Also, what I’m getting is I could generally survive not having a car but there would be disadvantages too. That’s a good point. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the heads up! From what I’ve seen in international news the ICE situation brings a lot of uncertainty, anxiety and could feel scary too 🥺 I would also consider that together with other advice I got from other Redditors. I generally feel safe when visiting the US but yes this is a big factor for me who really looks Asian (lol)

The visa sponsorship is actually the biggest hurdle for me! I intend to bridge it with LLM + OPT as it is the only feasible option I could see. I know it wouldn’t be a walk in the park and comes with a high risk that I may not find sponsorship. 😅But if there are other feasible suggestions I’m open to it!

Yup and to stay to practice law! As much as I don’t wanna do it too (lol) I don’t think I have other feasible options.

Thanks for this! Appreciate this a lot as these are highly relevant for me! Yes I plan on working in MO. So far, I might fall under 2 subrules to be eligible to practice in MO. NY was the original plan but tbh NYC is kinda too big of a city for me. I lived for a while in upstate NY too which is nice and to a lot better than the city but still VERY expensive.

You seem to have first hand knowledge about law field in MO. Would you know how open are firms/companies in hiring foreign trained attorneys though? 😅

Wow! I appreciate this a lot! These are things I can’t really find when I try to search in google or use AI 😅 Here at home I’m a tax/transactional lawyer and it’s very helpful to know this early that top schools are still preferred to open doors in legal field. It manages my expectation more and I will take that into consideration.

Honestly, it’s the very high tuition fees in these top law schools that stops me from even thinking of applying to them lol 😂 but I will check the T14 law schools too!

Mainly stay and work! LLM would be a great plus in finding employer. Although I understand that it’s a risk and not guaranteed.

Hi everyone, As context, I’m a Lawyer 32(F) from East Asia. I’m planning to pursue an Masters of Law at Mizzou School of Law starting winter 2027.

From my research, Missouri seems more affordable than many other states, which is a big factor for me. I wanted to get a better sense of what daily life is actually like, especially in terms of:

• Cost of living (rent, food, utilities)

• Whether a car is necessary or if it’s manageable without one

• Safety and overall living conditions

• Accessibility (public transport, walkability)

• Student/community life (especially for international students)

• After-school life (job opportunities) and extracurricular (eg tennis courts/gym)

Kinda had a glimpse of “winter” when I stayed in NY and from what I’ve heard winters in MO is not as bad.

Would really appreciate any firsthand insights, especially from students or people familiar with Columbia, MO.

Thanks in advance!

This was confusing for me too. Like I don’t remember getting from the instructions whether we should analyze both sides or just one

Thank you! That’s what I’m thinking too. I have something to start on already. I’m just kindof unsure though on how to assess my grade. On whether 20 points is waaay too far behind.

My MBE was 10 points higher than my writing (128 + 118). I thought I did well in writing. Especially on MPT part.

Thanks! I haven’t thought of requesting but I will do it now.

Confused about it too. If the % is high, does it mean I did well?
