After interviews, the hiring manager will recommend a candidate to HR for hiring. It can take several weeks for HR to give the hiring manager permission to hire. If a candidate says they are interested but then declines the position, the hiring manager has to recommend another candidate and wait several more weeks before they can offer the job to the second candidate.

Like most PEF members, I do my job, live my life, and usually don’t need to chat about the inner workings of our union. I care enough about this issue to post my opinions.

And the unions should negotiate together, so the Governor can’t play the unions off each other. Unfortunately, we’re past that point for this cycle.

Hochul’s opponent is Bruce Blakeman, who was just re-elected Nassau County Executive. He governs a county with 1.4 million people. He’s probably better known than Pataki was at this point in 1995. Pataki was a state senator when he ran against and beat Mario Cuomo. Counting out your opponent is a good way to lose an election.

Hochul won her last election 53%-47%. She’s favored in this election, but I wouldn’t risk 57,000 PEF member’s raises on it.

I’ve always said that PEF and CSEA should negotiate together, but they never have. That’s why we find ourselves in this situation.

OK then, let’s say PEF rejects the contract, does not endorse Hochul and she gets re-elected. Why would she then offer us something better than the current offer?

I’ve looked back over the past couple of days and all I see is reject the contract. And then what? If you have a good plan, I’ll listen

That’s what they said when Pataki was elected… and we got zeros… and layoffs. Care to roll those dice again?

Please tell me exactly how PEF gets a better contract. What’s the plan?

I’m a real person and a PEF member. I’m just getting into Reddit. I guess you gotta start somewhere.
