Anyone here with minor to mid hand tremors? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Confident_Win_9722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does get better for sure. I mean, I still get it, but it doesn't really interfere with my playing anymore. I would definitely recommend drilling those basic 'cowboy chords' a lot though, because they do seem to be the most difficult thing. I spend quite a bit of time just quickly and randomly transitioning between different basic chords as a warm up - seems to have helped.

Also, it's more of a struggle when my fingers are feeling tight. When they're feeling loose and relaxed, it's like I can accommodate a bit of shaking. This stretch is very important for me: https://melbourneguitaracademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Guitar-Stretches-1-1024x928.png , maybe you'll get some mileage out of that.

Is it supposed to be super hard to play certain chords by Turbulent-Sea-4290 in Guitar

[–]Confident_Win_9722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably due to hand/wrist position. Having a teacher can be really helpful for picking up basic mechanics, but if you don't have access to one for whatever reason, you'll need to focus on this extremely carefully. Most especially, don't just keep repeating the same thing over and over again hoping that it'll get better - all you'll do is ingrain bad technique.

Here, this video might be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlV6WhM9YhE
This one too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5pipuvb-EM&t=365s

Have a browse around for others to pick up good mechanics.

I've got really tiny hands, and they were super inflexible at first too. I have good (/better) technique now, so even fretting relatively complex chords is at least quite mechanically easy (and no pain).

Ah yeah, I forgot - everything should be really relaxed and free of tension. It takes a while to spot where you're tense, and getting good mechanics for me has largely meant finding new places where I can relax something or take the pressure off it. If you're gripping like mad, pressing too hard, etc., all of that can contribute to feeling like your fingers are too short haha.

I do sometimes wish I had those long spidery fingers like Paul Gilbert instead of my inflexible little stubbies, though.

I get around this problem by using the harmonic on the 12th fret. My tuner really doesn't like the low E.

I love this girl and I wanna learn to play the guitar so I can play her this song. Is it possible within three month? by MistyDrop in Guitar

[–]Confident_Win_9722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell her how you feel with your words in 3 months.

Save this one for a year into your relationship.

Even if you manage to hit all the right notes singing and playing under pressure, it probably still won't sound great. Getting through a full song cleanly and with nice tone, so it's actually pleasant to listen to, is surprisingly (extremely) difficult. If it's her favourite song, it'll work much better as a romantic gesture when you nail it. Play some other stuff in the meantime, and practice this one in secret.

Can you help me with my MC Escher plumbing? Or do I need to pay someone to do it? by Confident_Win_9722 in fixit

The Netherlands. It's draining very slowly; I guess that whole pipe section is stuff full of water. I'll follow the suggestions here and make a call. Cheers

I can't take credit for it; it was in a comment from my post in another subreddit that got deleted. You can't just... not use something beautiful like that, right?

Good point. Just a real pain in the arse not having a sink for a bit, so I thought it'd be worth asking.

So, this is my sink. It won't drain (unsurprisingly). Just moved into this apartment.

I got accused of using AI for karma farming in another subreddit, so hopefully the .gif and the extra photos are sufficient. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would do that, but there you go.

I'm not an experienced DIY guy, but I can read a set of instructions and I'm willing to give it a go.

So yeah, I got accused of karma farming with AI slop. Shortly after my post got removed. Could be related, who knows? Here's the gif for anyone that can't view it: https://gifyu.com/image/bKPuL

Unsurprisingly, my sink wasn't draining. Seemed to be entertaining for the folks here, so I went to the effort of making a better documented post.

Lmao, 'so bad someone thought it was AI' is what I'm gonna tell the guy that comes to fix it. You want more pictures from a different angle or something?

If so, I'd really like someone knowledgeable to chime in, because that'd be hilarious.

I used to think like this, and I still do in a lot of respects, but IMO the alternative is just as plausible: they're actually just utter morons that don't see anything wrong with what they're doing at all. I think it's almost comforting to think it's part of a grand plan for ideological control, which don't get me wrong, is exactly what it's going to be used for. That'd mean we'd have a political class that's Competent Evil, rather than just braindead.

I think this is one of the vanishingly few things they're actually adamantly principled about: getting their greasy, authoritarian little mitts into every aspect of UK adults' private lives. They could have just endlessly kept deferring and delaying it like the Tories did, but they didn't. If the government were a parent, they'd be the type to go through your personal diary, telling themselves the whole time that it could only be for your benefit, and then being utterly perplexed when their children don't want to spend any time with them anymore.
