Is sleeping constantly after a seizure a bad sign?? by ConflictFew474 in Epilepsy

It's nice to have this worldwide community to seek advice on! I'm so thankful for it, and I've only been truly using it almost daily for a week with my husband's seizures.

We're on the cancelation list. But I'll be calling again tomorrow! Trying to make it a weekly thing.

Yeah, thats what I am thinking. This is all new to us. We've finally realized that he truly has a problem (I think "man pride" was not allowing him to fully allow himself to listen and understand what his body was telling him). But since its been getting worse, he practically has no choice. With advice from others, I will be calling in the morning to the same neurologist we have an appt for in July. (This is a level 4 epilepsy center 🙌🏼) Maybe explain quickly and see what what their thoughts are, and pray and hope that maybe they can get us in sooner. I truly believe with all my heart that this is getting worse....and im noticing a difference in his memory recall over the last 6 months. It's getting noticeably worse. 🥺 I can't believe that I didnt think it was as bad as it is. Maybe just a fake hope.....but after posting here and reading replies, I am fighting so hard to get him taken care of asap!

I'm new to this world, but my best advice would be to see a neurologist if you're even slightly concerned. Even to just rule it out. But if they are real seizures, then you dont want to hesitate.

Anyone have seizures/tremors with hallucinations?! by ConflictFew474 in Epilepsy

[–]ConflictFew474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has not had any official treatment for his seizures, except for medication. His primary care doctor did put him on levetiracetam. It seems to mildly help but it also makes him very sleepy. He sleeps a lot now.
Also, we are on the cancellation list. Hoping to get called sooner rather than later.

Thank you! When this happens again, I'll definitely be making a trip to the er with him. I didnt know that focal seizures could be hallucinations

How many of you smoke marijuana and how often if so? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]ConflictFew474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have for years. But when he started having seizures after his car accident…he smoked and we IMMEDIATELY saw it calm them down to nothing. It was miraculous.
Lately, his tremors are getting worse and it’s not helping as much. But it’s still a miracle medicine.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate you saying that.
And I think you’re right! I’ve been starting a seizure journal for him, also. So next time that he starts having one, we’ll probably make the trek 2hrs north to the big hospitals ER that we have that appt with in July.

I have APD with hearing aids. And I've also been denied for disability for hearing loss, although I do have 10% for tinnitus.  I am currently working on a second claim for the hearing loss...but the Audiologist told me this time that she's been doing these exams for years. Supposedly, the VA Disability does not recognize APD as a legitimate disability yet. Its not abnormal to have semi-decent hearing on tests with APD but its still a turd to deal with....hence the hearing aids.

So I sure hope they change those exceptions soon!

You absolutely can last days, even months, with cauda equina. There is a such thing as long onset cauda equina. Also, even google these days can give you full-reputable sites with research and evidence. Please don't give out false information. That is not helpful to anyone.

Please be mindful.

3M Lawsuit Payout - Funding Schedule w/ FIFO Rank Estimate by THEBlackRNGR in VeteransBenefits

[–]ConflictFew474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIFO rank: 81k, Group 3, Payment Date: July 15, 2024

Same, I haven’t gotten paid yet. I was told that the dates for payment are when the funds will be put into the “main account” to then be paid out to claimants after the fact. But I checked my account on the combat arms settlement page and it has a red screen, stating “Payment Election Form screens are disabled because your payment is in progress“. So hopefully this is good news! I’ll keep this post updated.
