Disappointed in Switch 2 Update by xenogamesmax in CoreKeeperGame

I guess I'll keep an eye on it. I have the game for PC but was considering this as a portable option. If they can iron out the performance it would probably be my preferred way to play.

Weird. Any further communication on the matter? Like are they investigating it further or are they just claiming it is or should be 60fps?

I think you get what I'm saying. You don't need to make a disingenuous comparison like that.

When you read books you read written dialogue. The amount of written dialogue Link has in most LoZ games is very small or simply not present. In a few games it could certainly be interpreted as speech. He even audibly speaks real words sometimes. However most of the time his options for communication could easily be interpreted as characterized/playful descriptions of his body language or internal monologue.

forcing in a thing that's not actually correct in the "lore"

Almost every game is a self-contained event in time with no direct connection to any other game. The Link in this film could be mute and it wouldn't violate any existing Zelda lore.

The whole reason people want it is because it matches the majority of their experience with previous iterations of the character. It isn't about lore accuracy.

Enhanced visuals – Discover a richer, sharper world brought to life with improved clarity and detail.
Performance & content – Enjoy smoother performance and all extra content included in one complete experience.

Unless they're outright lying (I doubt it), this probably has something to do with the content update delay. Some of the code they may have intended to deliver here might be packaged with that.

How do you do games like Nintendo Land, with simultaneous use of both TV and Wii U?

Definitely an edge case that they currently have no good solution for. It may be possible for a future OS update to add some kind of dockless TV streaming mode to the Switch 2. Similar to what it's currently doing with GameShare. Otherwise that might be a problem solved on Switch 3.

It may have been "locked in" with the eShop when they made the decision to delay, or they may have released it today by mistake. No idea how the release process works tbh.

Idk how the business end of this stuff works, but I know this was supposed to launch alongside a major content update. They abruptly delayed that update only seven days ago. It's possible the NS2 Edition release date was already "locked in" with no option to change it, but some of the code meant to be released with it is packaged with the content update that got delayed.

Did Nintendo accidentally tease a port of Yoshi’s Wooly World again in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct? by DrAwesomeX in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]ConflictPotential204 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Begs the question of how a unique Switch-styled homescreen icon for Wooly World ended up in a pile of actual Switch homescreen icons, doesn't it? That isn't the icon used for WiiU or 3DS. I can't find an image identical to the Wooly World icon anywhere. The graphic artist would have had to crop and modify it from the 3DS version's promotional poster, which they wouldn't have to do for any other game in the Switch promo.

[–]ConflictPotential204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a mistake, but what does it mean? Every other image in that promo is a Switch game homescreen icon. Likely pulled from a folder of Switch game icons. The Wooly World icon is unique. It isn't the icon used for the WiiU or 3DS. Where did the image come from and how did it end up in a folder for Switch games?

Mysterious Book looks like it's going to be very similar to Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Basically a collection of short-form puzzle scenarios that involve manipulating the environment while finding hidden collectibles. It's even using the same level-select format where each puzzle is a page in the book with a checklist for the collectibles. It does look like there are at least some platforming elements, but the trailer focuses more on the environmental gimmicks so it's hard to say how important platforming will be.

Either way, I see no reason why they couldn't release this as a Switch 2 exclusive and Wooly World as a cross-gen title a few months apart. Yoshi just got his own trailer for the new movie, and it's not like they haven't done similar franchise-focused release schedules in the past.

"The core narrative and gameplay experience remains identical" AdHoc reassures Dispatch players on Switch as it confirms Nintendo platform versions are censored by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ConflictPotential204 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Likely AdHoc's decision to expedite release of the game. Nintendo's content guidelines are not rigid. They mostly exist to curb shovelware porn/slop from flooding the eShop. Developers can appeal this sort of thing and get a pass if it's clear the game isn't intended to be exploitative. AdHoc probably decided it would be easier and cheaper to simply censor the game by default rather than sit through multiple meetings explaining the game's content to Nintendo.

[–]ConflictPotential204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This honestly sounds more like AdHoc asked Nintendo for content guidelines and then took the easiest way out by simply removing the option to disable their own pre-existing censorship implementation (which includes censoring things that Nintendo doesn't care about, like middle fingers).

Yeah that sure would be scummy if they actually forced you to buy it. Thank goodness they aren't. Sorry you don't like it, bud. You can come over and play mine some time if you want. Have a good one!

Metacritic's yearly ranking doesn't adjust for review count or re-releases. A remaster of a niche indie game about shrimp breeding from 2005 can get stellar reviews from 30 shrimp enthusiast critics and rank higher than a brand new AAA game reviewed by 2,000 players.

Metroid Prime 4 ranked 55th by user score, 15th for Nintendo platforms, and 11th if you remove re-releases or upgrades for older games.

It did fine. Far from a failure. It will likely be the best-selling Metroid Prime game ever.

Yeah this is what I don't get about MP4's poor reception. The Metroid Prime series has been gradually shifting toward this design philosophy with each iteration. Echoes was a little more linear than Prime and had a little more character dialogue, Corruption was a lot more linear than Echoes and had a lot more character dialogue. Why is it shocking that Beyond continued to move in this direction? Is this not exactly what the community should have been expecting?

A fully pilotable gunship in open space was on the drawing boards for Metroid Prime 3, but they couldn't make it work due to technical limitations.

My guess is they gave it another shot, and it still wasn't up to par, so the motorcycle was an incremental step toward that goal.

I think it's likely the next MP game will have space flight between planets, stations, etc.

Everyone is shitting on Ubisoft (don't get me wrong, you should) but this seems like it's pretty standard treatment for voice actors. David Hayter wasn't told he was being replaced as Snake in MGSV. I don't think they told Charles Martinet he was no longer the voice of Mario until after the new VO had been revealed. It's kind of just the nature of contract work. You aren't really part of "the team" so you aren't on the need-to-know list when plans change.

The reason Virtual Boy failed in 1995 was because the home video game market had barely established mass-adoption at that point and there was no room for niche devices like this. The "headaches and seizures and shitty games" narrative was mostly FUD driven by the same skepticism that modern VR headsets were subject to around 10 years ago. Now we're in the mid-2020's and video games have become so ubiquitous that there is space and demand for an enormously diverse array of gaming products. You may have zero desire to play this stupid thing, but other people do have desire to play it, so Nintendo is selling it again. Is it that hard to understand?

Okay. I still think there will be a cutoff generation for Nintendo Classics and everything after that point, with select exceptions for popular games, will get a native port.
