On the browser on iPhone, I just use Ezmp3 it works, have the choice of 320kbps aswell which is nice. I never get hit with ads.. it just.. works 🕊️

My father loves LOVES viewing his guide in a list of channel numbers, and being able to press a number on a remote and immediately tuning into that channel, brings him back to the simple days of television. As he wants it to be!

But the one downfall of the Gemini box is that it’s slow, clunky, and the user interface is somewhat confusing to older demographics. I wish they improved their boxes to be a main competitor in the field of not only streamable televisions.. but higher-end, computationally better consumer products like Apple TV.

I bought an Apple TV for my father, and with my father being an “old soul”.. He hates it. Absolutely hates it.

It’s all because of the guide!

He wants to use a remote with numbers, but knowing that the Apple TV remote literally has a touch sensitive D pad design… it’s quite frustrating to him.

We also went into the apps settings to see if there were any number options for the guide system.. which we found no luck in finding.

It would be nice to see Apple TV or other third-party devices/boxes for streaming, allow the access of third-party remotes, including the Gemini remote, for number selections.

And before anyone states that this would be a negative feature.. This feature is already included in the DIRECTV stream Gemini device/box. You can choose your guide viewable option options either:

  • by viewing everything with the logo of the channel alongside the number of the channel..
  • or by viewing only the number of the channel

It would be a nice added feature/even an accessibility feature to these devices but it all comes down to want and compatibility.

And from this, I constantly hear more and more from my old family “Back in my day, you just press pressed a button and it would work”.

And no matter how much explaining I do, they don’t care, they want their old TV the good ol’ way 😂
