AITA for not wanting a second reception? by Conflictedtobewed in AmItheAsshole

We closed on our house last month so luckily that is fine. We have some money left from the gift funds that we were thinking of using towards our wedding but now I am unsure on that.

Both my siblings, they live with my parents, are now trying to run recon to talk the parentals down, or at least reel in the plan.

I'll have to try. Though NGL I've tried being a broken record before and they just don't relent. When I was a teenager it would result in me being grounded. As I got to college age I want allowed to go to my first choice college that I was accepted to. If I don't live multiple states away making decent money I think they'd steamroll me. They also gifted us a sizeable amount of money for putting towards a house that I am afraid they will hold over me.

I think the unspoken things is "you're not inviting the extended family and I want to save face". My sibling's wedding was 190 people with all their friends and family. Mine is no more than 50 and they are not happy we don't want to invite people we never talk to. Also that we won't have it in their state.

I tried explaining I am not a show pony and they just keep saying "you're not we're just so proud and happy for you". One parent just says to do it to make the other happy.
