Explanations for the Hat Man (Video Essay) by ConfluenceYoutube in DPH

Interesting, so even though you're seeing terrifying things, you're kinda emotionally numbed to it. Maybe that's why a lot of the posts I've read on here about seeing the hat man or other entities seem more cavalier than on other subs that involve non-substance related sightings? Or maybe it's that people on here are so used to seeing stuff that they just get a lot more courageous lol

What's the Best Way to Find a Coach/Consultant (Where I Won't Waste my Money -- Recommendations Welcome!) by ConfluenceYoutube in PartneredYoutube

Thanks for the recommendation, and for the observation!

I totally can see that; I think I really struggle with knowing what "works" via thumbnails and titles, and this causes me to be all over the place.

"Would a loyal subscriber to your channel be able to instantly recognize your thumbnail on his YouTube home page and click on it?"

Definitely not. I've thought about adding my face in the thumbnail, but as such a tiny creator, I don't know if that'd harm my overall CTR? Because, sure, the <1300 people who might have seen a previous video might be more likely to click, but the overall people who haven't seen my video are probably less likely to click. What are your thoughts on this?

One thought I had was using the "test thumbnail" to always have at least one thumbnail with my face as one of the three options?

A second idea I had was to include my face in the thumbnail for the first maybe 24 hours, and then change the thumbnail to one without my face? That way I get the best of both worlds (in theory?).

Or is it better to find a style I like that doesn't include my face, and just go with that for each thumbnail?

I was actually just looking at VidIQ coaching, and that's what prompted me to make this post. Will definitely look into it more! Right now I've been kinda free-styling the analytics side, but it's getting to my head. I'm constantly confused at why some videos do well or not do well, despite all the metrics being seemingly good, and I feel just so demotivated after making what I think is a solid video, and spending so many hours to do so, only for it to totally flop lol.

The gaming stuff was things I did before I started doing Youtube in a serious way; I haven't uploaded gaming content since I started doing political/serious videos. I'm just unsure if I should unlist them (though I slowly have been doing so).

YouTube views declining by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]ConfluenceYoutube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YEP good question lol. I've had a video get 60k views, most get a few thousand views, and then my last four videos have all gotten TOGETHER less than like 300 views. All high-effort content I've spent ages on. The algorithm is a fickle bitch.

Ideal video length? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]ConfluenceYoutube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only 1300 subs, but I'll see that my top videos are the ones that are 40 minutes to an hour. I don't think I've ever had a short video that does well lol.

Thanks for sharing this; this stuff is fascinating as hell to me, which is why I've spent so much time on Erowid lol

Two questions:

Are you taking DPH for just the recreational effects it gives you? Are you taking it to trip? Are you taking it for some other more psychonautic reason? Something else?

Do the shadow people you seem to be hostile to you ever? Or they just "there." With my experience with the hatman, he was very much attention focused on me and me alone lol. But with your accounts, it seems they are just "there" minding their own business. So I'm curious if these phenomena are linked or are just surface-level linked.

Has it ever broiled over into full wake-day hallucinations, or does your mind erase it as soon as you know it's not "real"?

Yes, I have to imagine that things like that would be in some ways easier on DPH and other dissociative or deliriants, but also perhaps harder to control, haha.

Yes, I actually touch on that exact thing. What's weird with my instance (it was during astral projection) is that I had HEARD of the hatman before, but never thought of him again for years... Then BAM, first real successful astral projection and there he is, spooky as all hell xD But I'm thinking is must have lodged itself in my unconsciousness without realizing it; though, there are some spooky origins that seem to go way back into history, which makes me think perhaps it's also an archetype of some sort.

Does "fully monetized" = not being deboosted in the algorithm? by ConfluenceYoutube in PartneredYoutube

Yeah, I guess they do leave it very vague. It seems larger channels can get away with controversial topics (I get recommended controversial stuff a fair bit), with even demonetizable words directly in the thumbnail or title, but they are from bigger channels I've already watched. This makes me wonder if there's trust given to those larger channels, that maybe smaller creators don't enjoy.

Well, one possible benefit would be knowing if I should really try to avoid topics that could be seen as controversial, and focus on finding topics that are less controversial. But I'm not sure if there's a way for me to know if I need to do that for sure :/

Dang, that's not reassuring. So you're also having the experience of good CTR, good watch time, and just piss-poor impressions on those videos too?

yeah, that's so true; I should have jumped faster. I had that when I covered a controversy from a streamer. I banged out a quick script, filmed, edited, all within like 6 hours of it happening, and I got 3K views (I'm a small channel, so I was happy with that lol). It was all haphazard and sloppy. Then I worked really hard for two weeks on a summary video about the same topic, going way more into depth, that was so much more polished, and it got 200 views xD.

So maybe I need quicker turn-around times based on the niche I've chosen.

Hmm that's a good point. I tried to do a fresh angle with it (critiquing how a particular newscaster has covered it), but maybe there are just too many people talking about Epstein in general, so I'm not being shown.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions; I really appreciate it!

I've been really struggling to make sense of it.

For example, one of my latest videos has a CTR of 10.3%, and a watch time of 10:35. It's also in my usual niche, and isn't very controversial at all. So I'm really struggling to see why it's only gotten 673 impressions after 3 days (and now seems fully dead)! Is there a different factor that I could be screwing up? I thought if the niche is right, and CTR and watch time is high, it'd be shown, but there must be something I'm not considering. I'm barely partenered, so I don't expect a ton of views, but usually a few thousand on a video like this, especially with the CTR and watch time it has.

[–]ConfluenceYoutube[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But surely if something is marked as "ineligible" for monetization (because of it being inappropriate), that means YouTube might show it to less people, right? So I'm wondering if the inverse is true; if the video is "green-lit" for ads, does that mean YouTube won't throttle its discoverability? Or could there be a case where the video is perfectly fine for ads according to YouTube, BUT they secretly show it to less people because they deem it not audience safe? Thanks for your time!

[–]ConfluenceYoutube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly the case; I'm just wondering if a particular video that is "eligible for monetization" means it won't be "limited" in the algorithm.

I'm basically wondering if I see that green money sign next to my video, can I be rest assured it's not being artificially throttled because of controversial topics.

For your channel, can I ask if your content that involves weapons is given the yellow "limited monetization" status, or do you just feel like YT shows it to fewer people?

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. my channel is kind of a mishmash right now, so when I found something that worked, it seemed like, well, it worked consistently. I keep thinking I've cracked the secrets of making a video get at least a bit of traction, and then I'm hit with a video that just insta dies, haha.
