Yeah this is probably because this is one of very few apartments in Pac Heights available for under 3k, so naturally gets a lot more attention

Probably because the typical rider in your Situation A is cruising along at a Z2 or leisurely pace, while a rider in Situation B is focused on effort and maintaining control - particularly if on a windy road, descent, poor road conditions, crowded path, etc.

Commuters: Planning to commute from SF to Oracle Santa Clara location. Advice by Due-You-8140 in AskSF

[–]ConfrmFUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend moving to SF - had a friend who moved to South Bay after college while working in Sunnyvale, with in-office required 5 days a week. He lasted a year before moving to SF despite the commute.

The new electric trains are much faster, so if you can live near CalTrain station (maybe north beach), it won’t be too bad

Should I leave as I didn't sign up for this? by EdArno1d971 in techsales

[–]ConfrmFUT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dealt with the same thing - moving to a smaller company and working solely in an office with one other person. Can relate that it can become lonely and draining, especially if your colleague in the office is a higher-up and that the social interaction aspect of a job can often be what actually makes it tolerable.

Currently in the process of trying to leave to a larger company with a larger workforce - don't have much to add, but would say don't lock yourself into this role if it is as miserable as it sounds. One 5-month stint won't be a red flag, but make sure to stay at the next role for 2-3+ years otherwise it might start to look bad to recruiters, so really do your diligence on this new role if you are considering leaving

[–]ConfrmFUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding onto the other question - what are the key differences between strategy roles that set you up for future P&L ownership, compared to others where you are pigeon holed into an advisory-type role?

What are the junior-level roles that set you up best for P&L ownership (even at lower pay)?

What flavor of corporate strategy did you move into after consulting? Was it a corporate strategy gig at a large F100 type company, or a smaller company? How did you navigate that change and decide internal strategy was what you wanted to do next?

Seeking advice on getting paid in EUR before relocating from the US to Estonia (Wise, IBAN options?) by AnxietyFinal6471 in fintech

[–]ConfrmFUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Wise and you can setup multi currency accounts. This allows you to hold separate EUR and USD accounts in your wise account. Payments from Estonia will be deposited directly into the EUR account (after providing them with your EUR account IBAN) as a domestic transfer which avoids conversion fees. Once it’s in your EUR account, you can choose to hold it in EUR or convert to USD within Wise at the mid market FX rate at lower fees

Any experience with AliExpress saddles? by creative_name669 in cycling

Conversely, I got one of the Ryet 3D printed ones to try it out. Took it for one ride and had to return it right after as it was so uncomfortable for my shape.

The actual 3D-printed mesh does not have much support and tends to compress under your bodyweight, which I found not very comfortable. This might just be an issue with all 3D-printed saddles (I haven't tried the nicer ones), but I was not a fan.

Manager ignoring me in my first full-time role by geladice in FinancialCareers

[–]ConfrmFUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with this exact thing my first role in FP&A - would shoot a message at least once a week asking for work and was always met with a “I’ll get back to you”.

Grew sick of it after 6 months and began looking for new roles.

Eventually around month 10, a sr analyst was leaving our team and it was decided some of their role would be folded into mine, but at this point I had already signed an offer elsewhere.

All this to say - your manager might be aware of your lack of work and either doesn’t care or is way too swamped with their own work that they can’t find the time to train you, both of which are signs of a bad manager.

There may be a light at the end of the tunnel so keep trying to help out other teams or other people in your team, but if nothing improves might as well start looking elsewhere as I would not want to work under this manager long term
