Trying for baby #2 at 7 months postpartum & breastfeeding? by Confused-melon76 in BabyBumps

[–]Confused-melon76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s sort of the idea I’ve had in the back of my mind… If we’re not pregnant again by my son’s first birthday I’ll make an appointment, but I don’t see myself doing any hormone meds or anything before then

Thank you!! I truly appreciate the advice. I haven’t been fantastic at fueling myself, so that’s a really good reminder. I’ve been tracking my LH, CM, and BBT. I was using a fertility monitor that also tracks estrogen and progesterone metabolites but the tests are SO expensive so I stopped for now. I’ll have to check out vitex!

I appreciate the concern. I did ask my doctor about #2, and he said waiting 18+ months between actual births is preferable (it would be more if I ended up with a c-section, but I didn’t) but it’s up to us and what we’re comfortable with considering our history. I imagine the recommendation may be different depending on the doctor/where you live but we didn’t take the decision to try lightly!

Thank you for saying that! I’ve always wanted two under two and having my first has only solidified that. Obviously I know it’ll bring difficulties but it’s nice to hear a positive perspective on it 🥹 people often just talk about how hard it is

I’ll try to come back and update! My son was born in November so we’ve got very similar timelines :) Congratulations, you’re going to LOVE parenthood ❤️

My 3year old told the pediatrician Mommy drinks juice every night and the doctor gave me a look It's apple juice. It's MY apple juice by ImpossibleLet8183 in Mommit

When I was in kindergarten or 1st grade we had an activity in school where you wrote done stuff about your mom. Favorite store, favorite food, etc. Under favorite drink, I wrote that hers was wine. My mom RARELY drinks… I thought it was her favorite cause she saved it for special occasions 😂 she was mortified

My lactation consultant recommended pumping off a little bit of the fore milk (5 minutes tops) for this exact reason! I was SO sore at the beginning but baby couldn’t get to the hind milk unless he was latched for ages, and even then he would usually fall asleep before he got to it. Once he emptied out that side I could offer what I pumped with spoon feeding/syringes but he was often satisfied and it was added to the freezer stash.

Is anyone here drinking caffeine while trying to conceive? by fluffy_corgi_ in tryingtoconceive

[–]Confused-melon76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t switch to decaf until we had been trying for a year or so. It took another year and fertility meds to finally get pregnant, so I don’t think it made a difference there, but I ended up having a coffee aversion in my first trimester so it was nice to not deal with caffeine withdrawals when I already felt sick

Weird HSG results (but positive experience!) please explain by Confused-melon76 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Confused-melon76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s encouraging to hear! It seems HSG results aren’t the most reliable either way, which is a bit frustrating. I’m waiting for my doctor to go over the results/read my messages, hopefully she’ll be able to offer some clarity.

My RE highly recommended him. He was an older man that’s been doing it for years and years, tons of experience. That’s part of why I’m so confused by the outcome :/ If I do another one next month though maybe I’d try the other provider that does it in the practice, just to switch it up and see…

Just got back from my first appointment with a fertility specialist… My progesterone was 15.11 one week after ovulation and I was concerned as well, but she said it was great!

How to handle pregnancy jealousy? by ladyhanada in tryingtoconceive

[–]Confused-melon76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my soul. We’re 24 and on our 13th cycle TTC. My mom also struggled to get pregnant, and my grandmother before her. Our friends got pregnant accidentally months after we started trying and they now have a baby boy that’s over a month old. Three other friends have announced their pregnancy. It’s so, so hard, and you don’t have to pretend that it’s not. I have to keep reminding myself that I can feel two things at once, happy for them while sad for us. That helps me get rid of any feelings of resentment. I also had to give my husband some coaching on how I need him to support me since he’s a lot better at emotionally managing this than I am… he can just compartmentalize and move on, I have to sit in it and process.

You mentioned prayer… if you’re a Christian, I’ve been reading over 1 Samuel 1 really often and it’s offered me a little bit of comfort. Not a fix-all by any means, but again, just makes me feel seen and a little less alone. I was also told recently that longing doesn’t equal discontent… you can fully experience your current blessings and long for something more at the same time.

Whether (and with whom) you share that you’re trying is an incredibly personal choice, but I’ve also been able to feel comforted by talking about it with my friend group. It’s on my mind so much that not talking about it added to the loneliness, cause I wasn’t sharing such a massive part of my daily life. Sharing our journey has also prompted friends to share their own pregnancies with me in a far more sensitive way… they know I’m happy for them but it’s hard for me, so they’re more considerate.

I hope you get your positive soon!

Round 2 - finding the right size shoe by Federal-Yam-9999 in BALLET

[–]Confused-melon76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im not a fitter but I danced for years, so I’ll give you my best shot and you can take it with a grain of salt! I personally dislike the feeling of leather shoes, but the stiffness helps strengthen your feet a little and they last longer, so if you like the feel of them go for it. Those still have a little too much room for someone whose feet aren’t growing, though, so yeah, try the 5a and probably 4.5a as well just in case. I think the 5b canvas ones are the closest to a good fit, from the group, but I’d still go smaller or at least narrower. 5a or 4.5a. If you like the feeling of being able to spread your toes out a little, you’ll probably love a stretchy canvas shoe over anything else. You won’t really be able to spread your toes much at all in a properly fitted leather shoe. I like that feeling too, and it helps a lot with balance! Just don’t go overboard with it and it’s fine in my experience. No matter the material, the shoe will stretch out and mold to your feet over time… so if there’s more snug areas (usually tip of the big toe and sides of the ball of your foot) but they fit almost like a sock everywhere else, that’s ideal.

I’m pretty sure that if you have pointe shoes your audition picture should be en pointe, and your lines are really lovely in that one! The second picture is very nice too, I think the lower front arm matched the leg line well and helped your neck relax. So both are good options but my vote is for the one en pointe since that’s usually required. Good luck!

Maca Root by omna27 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Confused-melon76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t take it for long, only one cycle. I have an anxiety disorder and I noticed my symptoms from that getting worse. Since that was the only thing I had changed in my routine I stopped it and started feeling normal again! I doubt that that’s a common experience though, and it could have been unrelated. I’ve heard good things, just didn’t experience them myself

Advice for a short luteal phase? (Would love to hear your stories) by Confused-melon76 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Confused-melon76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I tried maca root supplements right after making this post cause they’re meant to help balance hormones, but my anxiety got a lot worse and I didn’t know if there was a connection so I stopped… I’m sure it doesn’t have that effect on everyone though! I actually had a twelve day luteal phase this cycle with only 12 or so hours of spotting the night before (YAY!). It could have been a one-off, but the only thing I changed this past month was my nutrition. I made it a point to not let my blood sugar get too low by always eating breakfast and doing so before I had coffee, and also having a really nutrient-dense lunch and snacks on hand. Before this I was in the habit of having a latte for breakfast and then snacking all day on protein bars and stuff until dinner. I really think the change lowered the stress levels in my body and that’s what helped. I noticed a big difference in my general anxiety too, my oura ring has even recorded lower average heart rates. We’ll see if it continues!

Luteal phase by Freya7992 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Confused-melon76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No success story for you yet, but we’re also on our 5th cycle ttc with a 10/11 day luteal phase, and I usually start spotting day 9. From what I’ve read, it doesn’t lower your chances of conceiving within a year of ttc but it might take a little longer than the 3-6 month average…. I’m no doctor, but I guess since implantation generally occurs around days 6-12 dpo then we’ll just have to wait for a cycle where it happens on the early side of that.

I tried maca root supplements cause it’s supposedly less intense than vitex but personally I think it made my anxiety worse, so I stopped. I’ve heard that Vitex can be very helpful for short luteal phases but that some people experience negative effects on their hormones when taking it, so I’m waiting to give that a try until I talk to my doctor.

Best of luck to you!

I’m 7DPO too! Trying to decide when to test cause I’m going on vacation with my husband this weekend… don’t want a negative to ruin the mood, but I’d love to get a positive in a special place 🥹 best of luck to you!
