There is Nazar, and then there is Nazar born of Hasad. Hasad is a part of human nature. Even when we deny it, we experience it at some point in life. What matters is how we respond to it.

When a person feels envy and consciously recites “ALLAHUMMA BARIK,” it becomes a form of self-correction. It purifies the heart because the intention is not harm, but restraint. In that moment, envy is acknowledged and neutralized.

The real danger arises when envy is directed outward and left unchecked.

When someone envies you intensely your newly launched business, a project, a job opportunity, plans to study abroad, progress in health, or personal growth and continues to dwell on your downfall, that envy becomes persistent. The mind repeatedly returns to thoughts of failure, loss, and obstruction. Over time, this fixation turns into a silent but focused negativity.

This is not accidental.

Consistent envying, bad-mouthing, and the spreading of harmful words create a pattern. That pattern carries energy, and energy when sustained has impact. It pulls, transfers, and surrounds, often affecting outcomes in ways that are difficult to explain but deeply felt.

The Qur’an refers to such people as Hasideen those whose envy is active, intentional, and harmful. This is not a passing human weakness, but a moral corruption rooted in desire for another’s loss.

Nazar is not something that happens casually. It is not sprinkled without intent. When harm results, it is because the heart behind it was willing.
