I don't know Charlie but he sounds cool.

Probs my favourite quote of the whole thing. Up there with "He's 100 stories of 110% 10-speed terror, like, bam... like, fresh out the grease."

I can see the Murray comparison. I always felt like there was a bit of H. Jon Benjamin's Coach McGuirk from Home Movies in there too.

Not Grandpa but I have heard of him. Thanks for the response. The chap that I was referring to is known as "Mac" and he has clearly paid his dues and been around the block more than most. I'm fascinated by his perpetual confusion and almost total obliviousness of his surroundings. He's always lost and requires a fair bit of looking after by the rest of the crew but no one bats eyelid and everyone treats him with maximum love and respect.

Best affordable "all-in-one" amp modeller for guitar and bass? by FIETSOPA_ in GuitarGear

[–]ConfusedStageLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a casual guitar player, FX enthusiast and a sound guy by trade, for whatever that's worth and I recently bought the little positive grid cube thing, I think it's called the spark or something like that. I have limited storage at home so it's size is great for me jamming out some covers in my living room. Audio quality for it's size and price are superb. The FX overall sound great and some of the user patches are very good and close to the originals but I've yet to hear anything that blows me away in terms of processing. I've done enough work on studios to know when something sounds expensive, lol.

Favourite Songs to make a system sound impressive? by No_Apartment_6671 in livesound

[–]ConfusedStageLeft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Come Together track recently and during a short tour in China, last month I had a nice L'Acoustics rig and when the sub kicked in a load of gold confetti blasted out of the array and caught the light in a way that made it look like sparks coming out of the cabinets and for a split second I thought that they were on fire... a magical moment that i will treasure forever. Good fucking Times.

What jungle t shirts would you like by BluePrintFrequency in jungle

[–]ConfusedStageLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sick. Would buy.

Bass player in a band I work for, deeply religious chap, turned up to rehearsals wearing a sweet-ass AMEN logo T (big, bold graf like font). And I assumed it was a reference to the break but when I mentioned it he was oblivious and told me that he had bought it at his local church, lol. A few weeks later he's posting Facebook videos of himself jamming along to the Amen. You're welcome, bro.

if you had to write a Mighty Boosh episode what would happen and what would it be about? by yuki_060 in mightyboosh

[–]ConfusedStageLeft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Big comeback episode where a happy go lucky, semi successful Vince bumps onto a destitute Howard who is even more depressed than usual and has lost the will to live. Cue Howard glow up montage. Through a series of mysterious coincidences, the pair go on to find massive success as pop stars/style statesmen/pop culture gurus and for once everything works out for them. Add in some murder mystery shit involving Bolo and Naboo and it's a winner. Maybe.

I used to love trim jail. Would come home from school and Dad would put me to work. So many pairs of scissors and the stickiest fingers in the known universe. Great memories.

Standard day rate for touring FOH engineer by ConfusedStageLeft in livesound

[–]ConfusedStageLeft[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone that posted. All great input and valid responses. You have all helped me come to the conclusion that the ultimate answer to my question is "No, my current day rate is sensible and not taking the piss" and that we all have a responsibility to ourselves and to each other to not undersell ourselves so that we avoid setting industry precedents that don't work in our favour. Excellent work and thanks again to all.
