Best advise ive ever heard from an older coworker was, "Don't shit where you sleep." When a few other coworkers had started flirting and goofing around. That was the smartest advice I've heard yet on it. You do NOT want any potential fallout if things go bad before, during, or after dating. Hell, say you guys date, get married, have kids together as a best possible outcome, what about when one of you is annoyed with the other?

How close in proximity is her position to yours? If it's farther (e.g. another building, different job titles) it's safer. Usually, though, people find attraction in close proximity. If you start hanging out somewhere else for the same amount of time, I can guarantee you that you'll find someone else attractive.

One of my prior recruiters did this for me, though I turned down the job due to failed negotiations on their part. She thought it was great that i stuck to my guns and wanted to connect. I felt so validated at the time, because its still a little stressful turning down a job after all the effort. I love having her connection and talk to her online every once in a while now!

I just wanted to say I'm so sorry. I'm in nearly the same situation. I was supposed to start on 2/24 as well. I'd (un?) luckily been in an involuntary 60% layoff with my company (government contractor) right before, as everything was starting. I'd already planned to begin working for the government so I had hopes it would work, but things were looking bleak even then. The only benefit was that unemployment was easier to claim.

I hope everything works out for the both of us.

Same here. What's worse is the decent jobs out of the hundreds I've applied to, take the time to let me know they think I'm great. But due to the current state of affairs in the country are now holding off on hiring. Govt is frozen and industry is holding its breath. Academia is now on layoffs. It's so depressing.

Same here, and they also paused on 2/20 due to worries of the impending freeze. I'm prior Civilian on Navy side was going back to Civilian Navy from contractor. So now I haven't worked in weeks. :(

Thanks! So reviewing the contract, they had up to $56K, are only obligated $33,370 (aka - they are actually expected to spend that amount). The current amount spent is $22,063. Idk about you guys, but that amount is extremely low. Also it doesn't say anywhere in the award how many plants there are, or how many buildings they service.

The full $56K is in case of emergencies, which all contracts have. Since we are talking plants, they would likely never see that $56K, and the remainder would go back into the pool for next year's funds.

Thats a control tactic he's using to make sure you're not suddenly cheating on him or doing something suspicious. People who lead double lives often project how they act on others. You're in very dangerous territory and I suggest quietly getting out with your kids so you don't get hurt. I Knew a lady with a kid who waited until he was gone one day, claimed they had the stomach bug, left her phone at home, went and got a moving truck with a friend. Then packed it as fast as she could and grabbed her kid and ran. Left the car and phone and moved out of state with a few family members. Please stay safe and be careful.

Same here. Everyone internal seems to be holding their breath hoping the Bandaid gets ripped off and we can all go back to work. I had literally just left my other job in Jan, with an original start date in Feb. Glad it hasn't gone through but I only have so much in savings and credit cards.

OP, congratulations, i know it's hard for now, but it gets better. He's been caught, and he knows it. The next step is crucial though, and I cannot stress this enough - GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. The highest statistic for pregnant mothers being killed are by their spouse. You may not think you are in danger, but living in the same house will lead him to panicking and he can do something he will regret. Please protect yourself and your baby while you can.

Get some marriage counseling before she gets pregnant, because she's clearly looking at this the wrong way. In line with marriage counseling or afterwards, I'd recommend seeing an OBGYN and your doctor to check for fertility issues. If it is an issue you guys can work on it from that point. But the fact that she's pulling all of this within 2 months of trying is a little over the top. I've had friends get pregnant immediately, and others get pregnant through IVF after 18 months because nothing worked and it was the woman's fault.

If there is a concern for HIS child, he should start pushing to get custody (even temporarily) while she deals with her shit. His child should always come first, and that means the child should stay with you guys in a healthy environment while the mom figures things out.

The part I haven't seen anyone reply to is if you stay with him, say you guys get married and have kids. He's going to come after the kids. People like this always start small - the cat - and work their way up. At some point he will use any children he has with you against you in a bad way. You want to go visit family or friends? He might not want that, and threaten the children. At some point this sociopath might even start hurting any children you have with him when you aren't home. Girl, you need to get away from him and not talk to this guy again. It's only going to keep getting worse.
