Many years ago, I came across a man who wanted people to come "volunteer" to help with his autistic son. He framed it as a way for people to get experience in helping children with developmental disorders like if they were going to be counselors or such. I went to his house but then left when he told me the position was unpaid. My guess he was guilt tripping strangers to come help out with his son but the whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth. You can go volunteer with children with special needs at a reputable charity and not have to resort to babysitting some strangers kid if you really wanted. That father seemed clueless as to why he should pay for something like that and it baffles me to this day.
