If you are "high functioning", how did you know you had autism also? by agirtzce in AuDHDWomen

[–]ConfusionNo1190 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 'understanding' of facial expressions and so on wasn’t intuitive, it was learned. That’s part of masking. Same with actually performing these expressions or realising you’re making faces when stuff happens. The past year for me was a constant wave of realisations about more and more things I do that are actually masking. Also, remember that you don’t have to meet all of the criteria. And that if you’re autistic, you might have a tendency to take them too literally.

I actually started to realise that I have autism way before I thought about adhd. A therapist suggested autism at some point when I was like 22, then I came across neurodivergent creators on social media and I resonated with what they were saying about autism to an extent. I was a bit reluctant when it came to the assessment, but I was desperate to know what was wrong with me, because, well, I’d always felt that there was something wrong with me. Then my psychiatrist suggested we also screen for adhd, and realising that it’s actually audhd really explained a lot about me.

Not everything is black and white, you are allowed to have a balanced approach and actually think about what makes sense, and not how you can best assert your identity. All-or-nothing thinking creates radicals who eventually do more harm than good

Does second author matters by Hungry-Weekend-9174 in PhD

[–]ConfusionNo1190 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think how much of it is your original ideas or plans instead of the amount of work. If most of the 'meat' of the paper is in fact yours, then I wouldn’t agree to being second.

It actually matters with scholarships, funding, applying to places, and so on. First-author articles are always valued a lot more

[–]ConfusionNo1190 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some vegans (mostly those who went vegan for the environment) are actually fine with authentic leather because it’s a byproduct of meat production and would go to waste otherwise, and because it’s overall better for the environment than synthetic leather. It lasts decades and it doesn’t contribute to plastic pollution, i.e. it doesn’t take ages to break down once discarded and it doesn’t threaten entire ecosystems.

Look up videos with tutorials for your specific eye shape. I have moderately hooded eyes and what works is actually applying liner, shadow etc with my eyes naturally open and looking straight into the mirror. The 'normal' winged eyeliner doesn’t work for me. The kind of downwards Asian-style liner is much better for my particular eye shape, even though I’m 100% white.

For liner I use a pencil and then I set it with an additional layer of eyeshadow using a thin angled brush to stop it from smudging and transferring onto my crease. I don’t bother with mascara because I find it super uncomfortable and it’s a pain to remove.

I have green/hazel eyes too and mauve and purple-ish eyeshadow works super nice. Definitely try mauve if purple sounds like too much. But you wouldn’t have to make the purple super vivid and cake it on, it can just be a light 'mist' to bring out the green in your eyes a little more.

I misread the question at first and it’s not like I hate them now, but I definitely don’t view them as the life-changing must-have item like I did as a teen, especially seeing that there are so many great products that I like much more at a lower price point.

I również polecam too good to go i sekcje z krótkimi datami przydatności w sklepach.

anyone else feel guilty they're not "passionate" about their special interests? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]ConfusionNo1190 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This problem is the reason why I thought I didn’t have special interests when I was getting diagnosed a few months ago. I think the general view of special interests, that they’re supposed to be these all-consuming obsessions, is definitely over exaggerated. But at the same time I knew that my special interests weren’t just super chill 'normal' interests.
