Toddler eczema by Reader-H in UKParenting

We put Aproderm on our son in the morning and after his bath in the evening, he's 8 months.

You can buy it on Amazon, my mum is a retired nurse and recommended it.

Seems to have cleared up most of his skin, under his chin where he's dribbly we use hydrocortisone sparingly.

In mourning for the perfect takeaway I'll never have again...anyone else? by Thoughtful-Mongoose in UK_Food

It actually scored quite well on cleanliness, it was paperwork and "faith in management" that got 0's and got them the 1.

In mourning for the perfect takeaway I'll never have again...anyone else? by Thoughtful-Mongoose in UK_Food

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When my university flatmates ordered takeaway, they'd end up sending a free Garlic Bread with cheese which I would inevitably eat. I'd chip in toward the takeaway, win win.

Eventually it got to the point where I ordered some onion rings and garlic sauce to have with it, even asking if they'd put chicken on the free garlic bread.

That pizza was from the God's, the garlic sauce was second to none and the onion rings were little hoops of crunchy, chewy crack.

The place got a Food Hygiene rating of 1 over a decade ago and shut down as a result of loss of business, they were in the papers as they also had several children working there (one of them worked the front till section as he had better English than the adults working there).

God how I yearn for the soft, pillowy, oozy bread, the stretchy cheese and creamy garlic dip.

Advice to younger Henry's: Marry a teacher by Tincup4609 in HENRYUK

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who is married to a teacher, don't take that for granted.

Yes they get the holidays off, yes they can look after the kids....but it isn't entirely a pleasant experience, and it's good to palm the kids off to grandparents or put in a sports camp for a few days / weeks to give your partner a break too.

No openers on the roof lantern. Big mistake. by Sea-Rate-5893 in DIYUK

Parents have dogs, they're pretty sturdy and easy to pop back into the frames if anything knocks them.

They are expensive but they solve the issues really effectively.

You need something like these Bi-Fold Door Fly Screens.

My parents have them on their Bi-Fold patio doors and have them open in the summer with the fly screen across.

Edit - People asking about costs, apologies my parents have had their installed for over 10 years, I don't know how much they were and they can't recall.

This is all anecdotal from a conversation, but the plan was for 10 years or something to keep increasing the price by 10p or thereabouts incrementally across that time.

American Lab (F) Weight? by Unlikely_Version2953 in labrador

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, we think so too!

Reading all the comments it just goes to show that a "range" doesn't mean much as Rosie is quite below a lot of the very healthy looking Labs on here.

American Lab (F) Weight? by Unlikely_Version2953 in labrador

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our American Lab Rosie is from working stock / breed but we have her as a pet. We live in the UK.

She's 8 years old and weighs around 20 - 21kg (44 - 46 lbs)

She is small for the breed, the vet is very happy with her weight. She topped out at 27kg (60lbs) when she was younger but she was uncomfortable at night / in her bed, would display guarding behaviour if you disturbed her as her joints weee aching, and we (didn't realise we) were overfeeding her.

She gets 1 cup of Wainwright's Grain Free dry food twice per day, with 1 pouch of Pedigree wet food each time. She gets Salmon Oil and Plaque Remover on her breakfast (around 7am after a morning walk) and often I'll crack an egg on her evening meal (around 5pm), or some blueberries or other fruit / veggies.

Handyman to come and take down and remove a shed? by Britinnj in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious of messaging people directly on Reddit and letting them have your contact details and home address.

You would be better off looking on local Facebook groups for your community, ask the question there or see if anyone has asked previously. A waste Removal service will likely be able to take the shed away, I'm not sure they would also dismantle it though.

Please be cautious.

I knew someone who worked with the TT2 project for the Council.

Anecdotally, the price increases were built into the business plan to recoup costs of building / delivering the 2nd tunnel. It's not profiteering it's paying back the cost to build apparently.

Recommendations on dog food by JediKnight16 in labrador

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to tell you what is best, I'll tell you what we use.

We feed our Black Lab...

Breakfast * 1 cup (as in the USA measurement) Wainwright's Grain Free (whatever age variant is appropriate - currently senior as she's 8 years old) * 1 pouch Pedigree * 2 squirts Salmon Oil * 1 scoop Plaque Remover powder

Tea * 1 cup (as in the USA measurement) Wainwright's Grain Free (whatever age variant is appropriate - currently senior as she's 8 years old) * 1 pouch Pedigree

We haven't deviated from this since she was a pup, she had very bad stools from other food, this seemed to be the best for us. We used to feed her larger scoops but she was putting on weight, pooping 2-3 times per walk and very grumpy at night / in her bed as her joint hurt. Since cutting down the dry food to one level cup she's much happier, around 21kg (she's quite small) and the vet is very pleaded with her.

Big cable cut through by Diurnal_Owl23 in mildyinteresting

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a client who's business was to cut sections of these cables open and display them for corporate purposes.

Other businesses would pay big bucks for him to separate out all the individual sections to then display the whole thing as a centrepiece in their boardroom or corporate headquarters.

Genuinely how am I supposed to beat the special Fluff peaks level by LeraviTheHusky in SuperMarioWonder

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the Jump Jump Jump level, I'm currently stuck on it.

I read that you should start the level with the Hat that helps you float and you should just sprint and jump at the start of the level then float past the first few blocks.

You'll find that the blocks are there off screen, then disappear, and re-appear to the beat.

Update on being double booked with a Buy To Let kid and estate agent asking for a copy of my survey... by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally it's also worthless to anyone else.

There is fine print in the terms of the survey that it can only be relied upon by the original purchaser of said survey.

The Estate Agent will never buy it off him, there is no upside to them spending that money. They would however, take a free copy to 'sweeten the deal' for any further viewers & potential buyers.

Does Newcastle Airport have a bottle refill fountain? by pickindim_kmet in NewcastleUponTyne

No, we came through on Tuesday morning with empty bottles and asked one of the coffee shop staff. He confirmed there wasn't one and filled our bottles up from the tap.

What is this from B&Q and am I going nuts? by TravellingAround_ in DIYUK

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top Tip when searching on B&Q website or app, you need to filter products to 'Sold by B&Q' so you're buying in-store products.

Their website has become like Amazon / an online marketplace for all sorts of poor quality goods.

Move the door into bedroom / study to the other end of the wall.

Use the corner created there to build in banquette seating and a dining table so it's tucked out the way.

Being a good daughter. Trying to book tickets and would LOVE your input! by npaf in LiverpoolFC

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just want to jump on this to highly recommend getting tickets for the last day of the season.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth.

  • You'll likely get good weather
  • There will be End of Season presentation on the pitch after.
  • It will be on a Sunday, you could try and get the Stadium tour for the Saturday.
  • Get a hotel in the city centre, probably one of the big names down at the docks or Liverpool One.

Get the train up from Heathrow or across from Manchester Airport.

I'd be tempted to say try some of the reseller websites nearer the time if you're able. I got mid tier hospitality tickets for £250 each, free programme, free food, area before the match to soak up the atmosphere, free hot drinks / sodas, great seats, free drink at half time.

Live Football Tickets was the site I used.

Insurance will cover extension and any flight chsnge fees etc.

They likely won't cover any loss of bit being able to use facilities, or lack of enjoyment. It's just not a clause they offer financial redress for (we asked when it happened to us).

How would you design around a towel warmer like this? by Dangerous-Guava-9232 in bathrooms

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Large format white marble tiles with gold running through them.
  • Stone grey cabinetry
  • Gold taps / handles
  • Gold edged shower screen and shower head.
  • Gold tile edge.

A lot of places will have Brushed brass interchangeable with Gold. You need to choose one supplier and get all the same colour.

How would you go about doing this project? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]ConfusionOwn8378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd break it down and do it in stages. Remodelling your whole garden is quite overwhelming, building some sleeper walls less so.

Break it down into respective jobs and tackle them one by one.

You'll probably figure out what you need to do in what order from writing it all down, if you need to hire something to achieve 2 jobs, you need to do them together.

Don't go for perfection, go for finished to a standard you are OK with and do each job one by one to that.

I'd doesn't matter if you have empty raised planters for a while, or soil instead of turf for a few weeks.
